Heh, I don't expect you'll see that subject line too often on DU.

The New England Wilderness Act finally passed the house this AM (it had been passed by the Senate a while back) and pending the pretzeldent's signature NH will have a brand spanking new 23,700 acre Wilderness Area in the Wild River Valley and an additional 10,800 acres added to the existing Sandwich Range Wilderness.

Vermont gained approximately 47,000 acres in new Wilderness as well.

Thank you any and all who may have helped with this. It has been eight longs years since myself and several others began this campaign and it finally paid off. Never discount what a few determined individual can accomplish.

1. Congratulations!
Thank you! I saw this earlier today and my first instinct was how much land did he give away to give you the Wilderness you got, hehe. Glad it's an overall good thing, can't have enough wilderness!

a lot of beautiful landscape and valuable habitat that will be as permanently protected as a place can be in this country.

All cynicism aside this is a good thing.

3. Thank you, Redneck S, for fighting the good fight.
So heartening to see land saved instead of squandered, and I applaud anyone and everyone involved in the saving.

7. "Most important bill I ever had."
According to Charlie Bass (R-NH)

Maybe he's just putting a nice spin on things since he got the heave-ho last week, but still that's damn nice to hear.

Bradley (R-NH)...joked on the floor that he will now have more time to explore the White Mountain National Forest more thoroughly."

:)

Maybe I'll see you on the trail Jeb.
