I have to give Tony Perkins of the Religious Right credit
He said the RR didn't turn out for the GOP because the GOP no longer had family values. At www.frc.org

He also said he would watch the dems to look at their values prior to the vote in 2008.

2. Tony, explain why Santorum and Allen lost. Also explain why South Dakota
voted down the abortion ban.

7. My opinion: Santorum's and Allen's conduct is disgusting to the values
of decent people anywhere, and that's the main reason why they ended up losing, now that they've made their true colors painfully obvious to everyone. I don't know if that's how Mr. Perkins sees it.

11. Sad to say but...
The abortion ban that died was the most restrictive ban possible. next elections they will add nominal exceptions and present it as a complete overhaul. Trust me, the ban proponents polled our house as soon as soon as it was clear they lost. I hate the "vote yes for life" people, because they are very uncaring about rape victims and provide no money for the kid after its born.

But... come 2008, the Abortion ban V2 will come out, and we'll probably pass it.

13. Yes, the radical righteous wing is pure selfishness

Religion --like mine.

My savior, my way.

Marriage like mine..me, me, me....me!

Abortion my way or no a all. Damn the women we could save...it's my selfish way.

I in my selfishness am best suited to bring God to you.

They are the opposite of Christian charity and goodness. The theocro-fascists.

Die piggy, die, die! Selfish, selfish.

3. Wishful thinking
The only consolation in dealing with these people all these years was in knowing that they were running at 110% of capacity while liberals had significant (if lazy and sometimes hard to get to the polls) reserves.

The GOP did turn out, with everything they've got and some defectors and swing (or as Ann Coulter calles them: idiot voters) voters on top. 49% of a 48% turnout is their top speed.

That's why we need to energize at least 20% of our reserves for 2008.

4. I think this is a very positive sign
Edited on Sat Nov-11-06 12:49 AM by Erika
The RR has pushed for the GOP since Reagan. They've stopped that push. Just another fracture taking place in the GOP base.

5. Tony Perkins Values? Bigotry. Theocracy. Anti-science. Keep them away from us!
Edited on Sat Nov-11-06 12:51 AM by TwentyFive
The republicans DO represent the 'values' of the religious right. But after losing this election, maybe the GOP will think twice about standing for hate, war and theocracy.

They lost. And shithead Tony Perkins can't face that he's part of a diminishing minority.

9. If I really thought Tony Perkins was sincere, I might give him credit...
I think it's just one of two things; either he is trying to scare the pukes back into the fold, or (and I think this is more likely), he wants to maintain the appearance of power with his followers, if he were to admit that the evangelicals (fundie types, not Jim Wallis types) turned out and the dems won anyway, it would diminish him, the protestant pope (Dr. Dobson) and all the other moonbats in the eyes of the faithful...or maybe all those dinners with the fundie inlaws have hardened me in some way?

10. Perkins ran for the US Senate against Landrieu in LA
as a Republican and he's still one to his very core. He means he'll give Dems a chance just like Bush meant he would work with the Dems, then goes and renominates Bolton for the UN.

12. Perkins is the devil's son
Dobson is the demon himself.

We don't want the sulfuric stench of the FRC and their Nazi-like gay bashing, hate monegering bigoted propaganda.

They need to self destruct and soon!

Next time you see satan, jr. on TV, shield his phony smile with your hands and study his cold, black, souless eyes. He is the embodiment of evil.

Get thee be gone Perkins, swish your dead souless eyes and head and drag your spikey tail as you reel around on your heels and disappear in a cloud of acrid, sulfuric smoke, back to you own hell hole.

14. Yes - I'd never want to belong to any political party where perkins, kennedy, dobson belong.
If the Dems were to give an inch to these evil, moneygrubbing slimeballs...I'd take my support to the green party...in a heartbeat. A single heartbeat.

15. He's a liar, as always. What a load of crap. You shouldn't buy it.
The fundie nutcases turned out in the same numbers as the last election. Unfortunately for them, sane people turned up and voted in grater numbers. Some even call themselves evangelical Xtians, when exit-polled, but the Hatemongers like Perkins did not stay home. They turned the tide on anti-gay referendums in 10 states, but they were too weak to in numbers override the overwhelming revulsion of the general populace at what the GOP Monsters have been doing to this country and to Iraq.

He is a totally evil being, and giving him credit for any tiny bit of decency or sanity is to be deceived by his scam.
