A reminder : John Conyers now can act on his wishes
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 07:49 AM by BelgianMadCow
Consider the man likely to run the Judiciary Committee, Michigan's John Conyers, from the Congressional class of 1964. He recently made his plans clear in a 370-page report, "The Constitution in Crisis: The Downing Street Minutes and Deception, Manipulation, Torture, Retribution and Coverup in the Iraq War, and Illegal Domestic Surveillance." The report accuses the Administration of violating no fewer than 26 laws and regulations, and is a road map of Mr. Conyers's explicit intention to investigate grounds for impeaching President Bush.

1. I obviously do not
speak for Rep. Conyers, but I am under the impression that he understands that many of the crimes of this administration lead to the office of VP Cheney. And, while the country -- including politicians from both major parties, the media, and citizens -- tends to have a higher favorable feeling about Bush as an individual than as president, Dick Cheney has the lowest popularity of any recent individual or politician.

In his classic 1970 book "We Talk, You Listen," Vine Deloria Jr notes that, "There has never been a system yet that would not gladly sacrifice one of its own for a moment's peace, no matter how brief." (page 66) The truth is that the republican party wants to distance itself from the Cheney policies & lies that brought this country to war in Iraq. While there is plenty of reason to believe that an effort to impeach Bush would fail to muster support, it is safe to say that an impeachment of VP Cheney would have wide support.

2. If you go to the video forum
you can see a new video of Cindy Sheehan and she mentions impeachment and someone says (who's interviewing her) that you'll just get Cheney and she said it best when you have to impeach all of the criminals. Than we'll get to President Pelosi.

4. Well, if you look at the big picture,
even dethroning Cheney is but a samm step towards our ultimate goal.

But as he is the reckless greedy driving force behind the foreign policy, justice would be well served by his impeachment. And should more around him be Scooteredn even better.

I think he is in the know, yes. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact he can have. Is his position as Chairman of the House Judiciary Comittee a certainty?

6. While it isn't
a certainty, it is very, very likely.

8. Good. The disenfranchisement that starred in the beginning of F911
is not something I think he will let happen again.
Somehow, even when a search on DU for his plan yielded the unexpected result of several threads debating his denunciation of impeachment just now, I tend to think this man should be judged by his deeds not his words.

13. This is precisely why Rumsfeld resigned.
It is a delaying tactic. But the truth will come out nonetheless about how Rumsfeld's old pal engineered the propoganda campaign to start this war.

3. Can he help with the election fraud that may have been perpetrated in CA?
Or are we satisfied with the Enron installation of the terminator?

Not much hard evidence on the link, but some strong suspicion. I too read Conyers report on Ohio. I'm very excited about his soon to be real power. :toast:
