Democrats held house 60 out of 64 years 1931-1995, GOP, 1995-2007
And you can look at it this way, Dems held house 1931-1995, 64 years with the exception of four years, 1947-1949 and 1953-1955, so Dems kept the House 60 out of 64 years. The GOP, even with redistricting in their favor, lose it after 12 years of abuse of power and corruption.

2. Retaking the House in 12 short years after the devastating realignment

of the old Roosevelt Coalition that had once included the "solid South" is more enormous than most people seem to be realizing. Our party has succesfully (if accidently) purged a large segment of its extreme right wing over the past couple of decades with the massive migration of it's most conservative and racist elements to the GOP.

It has returned to the majority in present form as a far more moderate/progressive party than the one that controlled the House from 1954-1994.

Notice the 49-seat gain in 1975 as a result of the Dems having the SPINE to initiate impeachment proceedings against Nixon????
