Why does Bush have to say "Democrat Party" ?
I understand that kind of crap coming from Rush Limbaugh, et al, but Bush is supposed to be the President. He claims to want to work in a bipartisan fashion and yet he deliberately uses the phrase "Democrat Party" rather than Democratic Party.

That just really gets to me for some reason. Minor in comparison to other things, but just really irritating.

Quotation: "It was a thumping," Bush conceded at the White House. "It's clear the Democrat Party had a good night."

1. I wondered that too.
Code for "I may be forced to sound nice, but that doesn't mean I really like you"?

Really it just makes him come off as a childish quasi-bully, like most everything else he does.

30. THE REPUBLIKLAN PARTY
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 04:05 AM by liberaldemocrat7
If you want to stop Geo Bush and his REPUBLIKLAN PARTY from calling our party this nasty name then fight back. Spread the word.

They do not want to get associated with the Ku Klux Klan despite alot of them appear unreconstructed confederates, exploit workers for cheap labor and act as racists.

Fax the white house email the white house and demand that Geo Bush call our party the Democratic party or we will make a concerted effort to call his party the REPUBLIKLAN Party.

I even have REPUBLIKLAN party t shirts at http://www.zazzle.com/maximus7

If you will not fight back and do this then don't expect many Republicans to stop this nasty reference to the Democratic party.

Democratic tests more positive than Democrat, so "Democrat Party" it is.

32. That's the reason
Democratic tests better, so they've made an effort to redefine the party as the "Democrat" party.

13. Pelosi should remind him in front of cameras
that most normal Americans who habla English know they are the Democratic Party. No amount of childish "I refuse to say it" semantics will change it and it just makes him look that much smaller when he utters it.

14. I think that would be great
No one ever seems to call anyone out when they say Democrat Party instead of Democratic Party.

Majority Leader Pelosi would be a great person to remind everyone what the name of the party is.

19. The latest thing the ignorants do is to leave off the last syllable of words -
It ain't just 'Democrat Party'. Just listen to sports morons and how often they'll say things like 'I don't take it personal', or 'I take it serious'. What the hell happened to the LY part, folks? Like PERSONALLY, SERIOUSLY.

20. Because it's the institutionalized Republican way of belittling us.
Like if you want to be called "Edward" and not "Eddie", but the schoolyard bully says "Hey ED" while mussing your hair every time they see you, to fuck with you and see how far they can go.

It has to be policy since all Republicans from Bush to Rush Limbaugh do it.

It is a further lowering of political discourse to elementary school level that is new to the Bush era.

It's so ingrained now that even in ignominious defeat, he still does it.

The party leadership has allowed this to go on by not calling Republicans on it.

21. It IS institutionalized, compliments of Gingrich back in the early 90s.
There's a memo out there somewhere with a do-list of how to talk about democrats in the media; it came from Gingrich when he was building the framework for the 1994 "revolution."

It's completely deliberate (nevermind that it's grammatically incorrect), and it's even seeped into usage by the MSM. And it absolutely infuriates me.

Herbert Hoover and Alf Landon used it when attacking FDR. It's an old slur the Repugs have recently revived.
