Major dial up ISPs outage all over the country
All of yesterday and today so far, our Indian helpers are saying there is a major outage of the following ISPs:

Earthlink
At&T
MSN
Verizon

Has anyone heard anything about this? I am a neighbor's who uses a local IPS.

I am FURIOUS! They say they can not tell the reason for security purposes.

What the hell could be going on?

That way the NSA guys won't have to co-locate in the telcos switching stations.

4. I will proudly don my tinfoil hat over this--this is NOT a coincidence, IMO. And
when I hear "we can't tell you for security purposes" my shit detector goes off big time...

This is knocking out a ton of people. Please be extra cautious watching the returns.

This is not a mistake!

10. I'm on dialup
Highstream. No problems getting online today and DU is humming along nicely.

If you're not tied into a contract, you might think about giving these guys a try. Highstream is a national ISP with local dialups. I've been using it for about 10 months and I'm very satisfied. Decent spam filter, good connectivity.

There's no dsl or cable available this far out in the country. I've tried several of the major providers of dialup service and thought they all sucked. My local ISP was run by nice guys, but I couldn't connect half the time.

12. I see some posters who are having no problems, BUT
it's pretty certain if some ARE having problems, they're not posting at all, so how to know?

14. If they can get online
they are not a part of the "security problem".

I've had Earthlink dial up for six and a half years. Never had this problem before. The guy said he had tons of people calling yesterday and today.
