6. Just got back myself........
I was number two in line. That's OK, the first guy in line was a friend of mine and we both voted STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC! We still have the "old" reliable lever machines here in New York. New York State wasn't about to have touch-screen voting rammed down our throats so we didn't comply with HAVA. It'll probably cost us a few million in fines but THE VOTE IS SAFE! And until one of these voting machine companies comes up with a safe, un-hackable machine with a PAPER TRAIL, that's the way it's going to stay.

GO DEMOCRATS!! :woohoo:

7. I voted
I was there when the polls opened. Took a long time to vote because they had rearranged all the voting areas and couldn't find my name on their lists but finally they found me so I was able to vote the straight democratic ticket that is so important.

12. Done!
Some trouble because they are renovating the church and had to go in another side, plus a slight problem remembering which precinct I'm in. They switched which side of the room 4-A and 4-C vote in and I headed left, as usual.:dunce:

Had my ID in hand, tho, and our machines DO leave a paper trail.

20. My voting experience today
I made a major move last summer, so this was my first time voting in my new area. I live in De Forest, WI, an exurb of Madison (Hail Satan!)

I voted on my way to work, got there at 8:15am. There was the longest line I've ever had to wait in to vote. Not quite out the building. This was could've just been the "before work" crowd, but there seemed to be a pretty good cross section of population there, young, old and everything in between. I was in line for about 20 minutes.

This picture (taken on my crappy camera phone)is from about two-thirds of the way to the back, looking toward the front.

There seemed to be a lot of first-time voters there asking questions. The guy putting his ballot (optical scan) into the reader in front of me stopped and asked me if we were supposed to sign it anywhere. I simply said "no", resisting the urge to point out how illegal that would be.

In line, an elderly man was asking about his wife who had trouble walking. The poll worker looked her up in the book, saw that she was registered, and informed the man that if he brought her to the polling place, they would deliver a ballot to her in the car so she wouldn't have to stand in line.

All in all, I think my observations are indications of good things to come, at least from my area. The turnout seemed high, a lot of first-timers, and people going through some considerable inconvenience to vote.

Cross your fingers, I'm crossing mine.

23. We just got back. You should have seen us, swimboy. It's raining
and very cold here, and my upstairs neighbor and I went to the polls. Anyway, we were so excited. When we were greeted by the poll workers standing outside in the rain (both Dems) we started dancing around and yelling, "LET's DO it!!!" After we voted, we danced back outside, yelling and jumping in puddles while it poured. The two women laughed at us. I had to go to the bank, & started shaking my ass there too. I did have my I Voted sicker on, by way of explanation.

What a rush. :D :toast: :bounce: :woohoo:

33. OMG!!!! You just made the rest of my day!!!!!!!!!!
I have a HUGE smile right now. You ALWAYS make me smile. Mine is an end-zone dance right now. You should have seen those bank people too. I felt like James Brown when I slapped my card down and said, "OH, yeah". Plus, I was all muddy & soaked. Perfect. No music, dancing like a fool, and now I need pizza.

Did I mention YOU ROCK???

25. In NY I voted for the Dem on the Working Families Line (mostly)

NY has many of the same candidates also on other party lines, a dem could also be on working families, Green, liberal, and Independent , a repug could be on repug and conservative, the total vote is what counts here. For the 2 sure wins Hillary and Spitzer I kind of threw away my vote and to keep the Socialist Workers on the ballot in the future I voted for them. not that I really would like them to win but it sends a message. This might be deleted as it's not a DU straight dem support vote, but that's how I voted. The working families 99% of the time endorse the Dem candidate.
