"If they can rig 'em. . .maybe we can fix 'em. . ."
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 09:49 AM by stellanoir
Pssssssssst. . . .

This may seem irrational but here's something simple we all can do. . .

Every time you feel the intense sorrow, anger, or frustration about anticipating the possibility of yet another contrived defeat, consider stiffening your spine, focusing your mind, and saying aloud or thinking really loudly and firmly. . .

"I'm co creating with spirit that any malicious code implanted or hidden in the vote tally counting software be neutralized during this mid term election, and any malfeasance that does occur be so blatant that it will be exposed and corrected immediately, so that the true will of the people will be revealed and real justice can be established."

Or perhaps, "I'm co creating with spirit that this election will be fair."

(feel free to modify as you feel is appropriate)

You see very simply, if they can rig 'em maybe we can fix 'em. . .with our hearts and minds.

If there is any facet of technology that could be influenced by consciousness it would more than likely be computers. Most of us have personally experienced inexplicable technical anomalies in the past.

Of course it sounds irrational but so are those in power. They have consistently refuted all rational tools and arguments, even when based on heaps of compelling evidence, and have done so with presumed impunity and no accountability for nearly 6 years if you haven't noticed.

They simply dismiss and marginalize our claims as being "reality based." TRANSLATION: They are using low level magic and mind control. They are masterful at "group think." We have not been so but perhaps we can focus at least for the next 48 hours or so. Theirs is based on falsehood and fear whereas if we draw from truth and love and humor, can you imagine what may be possible. . ?

Having approached the issue of election integrity from every imaginable traditional angle for nearly 4 years, and having written to every pundit, plutocrat, and politician of whom I could think, to virtually no avail, this may be one method of recourse that won't take years of legislative and legal wrangling to remedy this most perilous situation.

ENOUGH ALREADY !!!

It's worth a shot I figure.

Oh and it was suggested to me that I include a visualization for those who are more visually oriented as well. One of our wiser scribes suggested this really great one last week.

Envision the '07 SOTU with Congresswoman Pelosi sitting next to an uncomfortable looking VP (the current one) behind the pRes.

Even where we win, I think we could win by more if not for vote supression and e-voting with no paper trail.

like walking and chewing bubble gum.

I wasn't discouraging anyone from working through more traditional means and said that I had spent a lot of energy doing so for four years.

However most people have activities during their days and nights that are somewhat mundane. During those times this is simply something they can do with their consciousness which is not at all at the expense of their noble more overt political activism.

I am sending you light and love and asking your spirit guides
to help you use your fine mind for good, to use it to help
those who are in need and to do the right thing.

I am praying that you no longer feel a need to attack those
who are on your side, and who are working for the greater good.

And if you wish to undermine anyone, chose to oppose those who
are responsible for the murder, rape, torture of many innocent Iraqi women
and children. They need your help desperately.

Amen.

Why are you attacking me dear? I am giving you what you asked for. And example of how it works.

All great things have begun with a thought. And a prayer is nothing more that a thought sent to the divine.

You have a good mind, and a strong will.
It is your negativity that is holding you back
from achieving some important work. And you get too easily side tracked on trivia.

Stay focused on the good fight, use your gifts for good, not minutia or to hurt others.

And my dear I feel superior to no one. We are all in the same boat.

More light and love going your way, listen to that little voice inside of you. It will be telling you something important.

I want us to focus energy where it's needed, on tactics and procedures that have been demonstrated to work.

Why do you paint me as the enemy? Why do you continue to assert an air of superiority? Why do you assume I have no "light and love" in my life? Very disappointing.

Are "tactics and procedures that have been demonstrated to work" inclusive of shooting down well wishers and spiritualists on election morning?

What you are perceiving as an "air of superiority is perhaps a desire to not engage in trivial conflict and how does wishing someone more light and love qualify as a condemnation or even remotely suggest that they have none.

Yikes. Kicking up another shitstorm on this eventful day is so-o-o productive. /sarcasm

You and several others don't like my opinion, and you've made that perfectly clear.

But I am completely justified in holding it. I won't be portrayed as the bad guy here.

took umbrage with this approach. So if it doesn't work for you guys then don't do it. Different approaches work for different people and always have and always will. I think diversity is a wondrous thing.

I don't align myself with dualistic thinking and I don't perceive anyone as entirely "good" or "bad" though some are more misguided than others. It's not a question of liking your opinion.

There is no problem in agreeing to disgree on this matter.

I just don't understand why you persist in your efforts to discredit methodology and individuals that others find helpful and empowering.

Prayers and affirmations do not qualify as "spells" by the way. My motvation for starting this thread was to encourage like minded individuals to focus their intentions and consciousness at this critical juncture in time and felt that it would be helpful for some . There is a post down thread from someone who is disabled who really appreciated the suggestions.

Again if you don't agree and are not of the mindset that sees this as even remotely helpful, so be it.

Sorry about that. It happens to be one of the many reasons I don't like Republicans. But it also keeps me focused on Democrats winning the prize and helping achieve that. I sincerely hope that everyone can eventually leave behind the idea that wishful thinking and magic will help us, and realize that only good old fashioned work will save the day.

As much as you and others have bashed me for expressing my opinion, someone could be equally justified in turning the attack around on you - perhaps you have given someone else the idea that they DON'T have to do anything else, just whisper an incantation or something. YOU could be the one bringing "negative energy" here, contributing ever so slightly to Democratic defeat.

Think about that.

152. Yes emperical evidence is a very fine thing indeed.
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 11:20 AM by stellanoir
That was another part of what motivated me to post this.

Amongst progressive thinkers are some of the greatest intellects in this land. I've watched in bewildered astonishment for the past six years, academics and experts in diverse fields. . .statistics, computer science, history, culture, the environment, education, economics, psychiatry, etc. had all of their emperical evidence dismissed and defied as "reality based."

I've watched the land I love that was once respected around the world as the "land of the lively discussion" deteriorate to intractable divisiveness and the disempowering myth foisted upon us that there are now only two possible points of view. Our national dialogue has digressed into shouting matches when it used to be far more inspiringly nuanced.

I'm saddened by the perversion of the labels of both "conservative" and "liberal," the former having morphed into extremism and the latter having been inappropriately demonized.

I watch our leader get away with misrepresenting everything of which he speaks. That coupled with the "disingenuous nomenclature" of most all recent legislature irkes me to no end. The media's complicity and the public's apathy and lack of focus has disheartened me.

So in this regard we agree. My reaction was different than yours and that's okay.

If their approach is one based on illogic, and our finest minds have been drawing solely from fact and intellect and it has seemed as though these brilliant minds are doing nothing more than repeatedly hitting their heads against a huge wall of deceit, I thought why not engage our right brains AS WELL AS our left brains. . ? Thereby we may possibly trump the obfuscation of the truth which has had us in a virtual stranglehold for all these years.

I responded to the other dissenter down thread as he, as perhaps you have, assumed that I was suggesting that prayer and affirmation would solve everything and therefore I might be encouraging inaction or complacency. Quite to the contrary, there have been many times that I've been stymied in my life and felt as though I couldn't think my way out of a paper bag. Those like I, who employ the methodology of prayer and affirmations have often recognized practical solutions to possible resolutions and rectifications of problems that we had not been aware of prior to employing these techiques. So they help some to overcome blocks and motivate redemptive action.

Prayer and affirmations were never suggested as panacea for all that plagues this land. It would indeed be laughable to think so. However as supplemental techniques to help empower people to recognize their options for curative action, many find them helpful.

As to inadvertantly contributing to a Democratic defeat through prayers for fairness that is totally unlikely. Most of spiritual orientations learned long ago to balance the physical and spiritual planes and too much focus on one of those levels can undermine the other. Again these suggestions are supplementary and not exclusive of other nobel and traditional endeavors.

Now I'm very pleased that you contributed here and I hope you recognize my appreciation because clearly this warranted further clarification.

Peace again.

134. There are strange things in this world...
http://noosphere.princeton.edu/williams/GCP911.html

In a nutshell, this link explains that on September 11, computerized random number generators started spitting out numbers that were decidedly non-random. Smaller non-random spikes were observed in concurrence with other major events. If the far-out elements of quantum theory are to be believed, there's no reason such non-local causal effects couldn't happen. Food for thought...

7. Here's one explanation
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 09:59 AM by stellanoir
"So answer this first: Do you believe that you can co-create anything at all? There is actual comedy in this, in that each day you co-create your reality dark or light. Some of you enhance it daily, telling your cellular structure that you are "never going to make it," and actually giving it directions and a time of demise!

Do you believe that what you think and do can cause reactions in matter and your own cellular structure? If not, then that is your reality, and you have created it very well. If you do believe you can change matter, then you also understand that what you do and say can be designed to start changing your reality. Thousands have done it, so this is not a mystery.

Being lazy is also an issue too! Just like exercise. If you just sit there and do nothing, will "nothing" be the result? The answer is unfortunately, no. Instead the energy of whatever is your reality will reinforce itself and continue. A body in trouble will continue its troubled ways and build upon that scenario until death. A mind without direction will go to the most common level of consciousness, often one that is shaped not by your intent, but by those around you and their influential energy.

Blessed is the Human who asks: "Can I really change things?" That is the Human who is most apt to try to do it! Here are some helpful hints:

1. Start each day with an affirmation out loud so that your own ears hear it, and so it goes right into your cellular structure. Here is suggested one: "I am a piece of creation. I have created my current reality, and will create all of what I experience in the future. Therefore all that is before is my doing. Today I choose to raise my awareness. Today I choose to slow down the aging clock in my cells, and create divinity in my daily workings. Today I instruct my cellular structure to vibrate to my intent and directions. I create a peaceful balance in all things, everywhere I walk."

2. Never beat yourself up! Everything you say is "heard" by your cells! Even at your lowest ebb, don't do it. Instead, say: "I thank Spirit for giving me the ability to know that all this is temporary. I am peaceful in my power." Then wait for the pendulum of depression or sickness to correct itself. It will.

3. Even if you doubt that you are making a difference, do it! Your duality is built to be biased in these things. Let the results support you. Your intellect will kick into high gear when it sees things changing in your life. Just like exercise when you start to see the results, you won't doubt it any more!"

47. here is some info on an ongoing study at Princton
http://noosphere.princeton.edu/

The Global Consciousness Project, also called the EGG Project, is an international and multidisciplinary collaboration of scientists, engineers, artists and others. This website introduces methods and technology and empirical results in one section, and presents interpretations and applications in another.
We have been collecting data from a global network of random event generators since August, 1998. The network has grown to about 65 host sites around the world running custom software that reads the output of physical random number generators and records a 200-bit trial sum once every second, continuously over months and years. The data are transmitted over the internet to a server in Princeton, NJ, USA, where they are archived for later analysis. Individual data create a tapestry of color. The dot below shows coherence.

The purpose of this project is to examine subtle correlations that appear to reflect the presence and activity of consciousness in the world. The scientific work is careful, but it is at the margins of our understanding. We believe our view may be enriched by a creative and poetic perspective. Here we present various aspects of the project, including some insight into its scientific and philosophical implications.

30. A "sour look". LOL
You mean "a dose of reality." There has never been any evidence whatsoever that wishful thinking will get us anything. I want us to win, and win BIG in this election, and if ANYONE happens to stumble in this thread and think that maybe wishing will make it happen instead of actually DOING something, I want to be on record pointing out the truth.

If that's being "sour" and pissing in your corn flakes, tough.

40. I'm envisioning an ignore button being pressed.........
I first encountered this type of thinking in an old neighbor lady when I was a child. She was a Theosophist ( a 1920's new-age religion. Look it up. You'll finally understand the ending to the Wizard of Oz - L. Frank Baum was a major theosophist)

Long story short: It just plain doesn't work - EXCEPT in health issues it appears that mainstream research is tending to confirm that people really CAN change their own physical health to some degree with their habitual thinking patterns, for better or worse.

I also think the OP was offering this up more as a way to have less fear and depression as we DO work in reality.

So...gray areas, gray areas. Let them be gray.

No harm done. Go finish your corn flakes.

revel in some aspects of the theater of absurd.

Our national nightmare in recent years is fairly absurd as well but not in a way that is at all entertaining.

32. Actually
we've been in the realm of the absurd for the last six years. Might as well try and make absurdity work for us for a change.

I compare this idea to the weird, observer-dependent situations that emerge at the quantum level, the kind of thing that spawns the gedankenexperiment known as Schrodinger's Cat. Because you have to go to great lengths even to perceive events at that level, and because the techniques necessary to make those observations are so intrusive that they effect the results, and because the equations that theoretically explain that stuff yield ambiguous solutions to individual cases, Schrodinger says you don't know what's going to happen unless and until you try it.

The upshot of this is that, according to our current understanding of quantum mechanics, reality at the quantum level really is that slippery. And I think that this implies "reality" can be influenced by consciousness. Serious physicists have already proposed this. (The argument I remember was that new subatomic particles had a tendency to emerge just when theoreticians needed them.)

This doesn't necessarily mean that our meditations will make a Diebold machine suddenly countermand its programming and stop registering votes for Republicans, spurious or otherwise. But what it might mean is that errors may break in our favor for a change. For example, a hacked machine intended to go to a Democratic precinct might get rerouted to a Republican precinct instead, where it won't do any extra harm, due to a glitch in the paperwork. Or consider this scenario: assume the code that runs on the machines is burned into e-proms, which I think is likely, and that there's no way to tell which of these chips contains honest code and which contains the compromised version by visual inspection, which I also think is likely. Now consider a surreptitious operation where Republican operatives plant the compromised chips into some of the machines. Let's say such an operative (let's call him Karl) has just opened up a machine and swapped the chips. The good chip is now on the table next to the machine. Just then Karl decides he really needs another cup of coffee (because of course this work is happening in the dead of night). When he gets back, maybe he forgets he already made the swap, and does it again. Now the good chip is back in place!

Did we definitively make that happen with our magical thinking?

Do you insist that everything in the world happens for one and only one reason? Just sayin'.

Trying to tie your wishful thinking into quantum mechanics is doomed from the start.

Do you insist that everything in the world happens for one and only one reason?

Nope. Nice strawman, though. I insist that whatever happens is gonna happen no matter how tight anyone squeezes their sphincter WISHING it will happen.

New Age since 1982. Nothing whatsoever new in What the Bleep. Baby Food.

Whatever happens is gonna happen .. and where does that come from? A throw of the dice? Do you know the odds at the craps table? How many dots are there are the dice you throw?

Your explanation of "whatever happens" could prove quite fascinating. Random events are oh so chance. Unless you know the odds. Do you think the evil empire leaves all to chance? Oh ye of little faith. They leave nothing to chance. Their sphincter is something I don't want to think about. There is most likely a call guy with meth involved.

Whatever happens. And the Bleep is bunk. Does the word astute process?

some online videos of how the swaps are conducted. It is not a prong chip. It is a disk. Don't know if I have those bookmarked and didn't bother with a search for now. I'll look it up and get back to you. It doesn't take a wizard to tamper with the machines. In one sequence, a couple of screws do have to be removed. Don't we all know by now that the designers of the machines made them tamper-able? National security be damned. THat is, when it comes to our voting machines.

72. When I describe it as "low level magic"
I was not inferring that it's not powerful but that it's not enlightened or cognizant of universal truths.

Yup I agree that it's right out of the third reich playbook.

Still the truth will always be more powerful than that which is based on falsehood over time.

I came up with a ridiculous term for their "group think" a while ago . . ."Oligarchical hypnogoguery" How they repeatedly repeat the same falsehood over and over and over is intended to be mind numbing and is effective to some extent but not for long I swear.

I find skeptics challenging but really don't intend to force my beliefs down other people's throats.

I just wonder if their beliefs make them happy.

I've barked at dogs before though so what the heck do I know? ;)

82. Wow. So This Whole Time Erradicating Election Fraud Was This Easy. Who Knew?
Shame on all of use who have been fighting for fair and transparent elections for years now. To think, all this time all we had to do was hold hands and repeat over and over that the machines won't cheat. I feel so disappointed in myself for having not seen it sooner. How could I be so blind to this simple low level magic solution to one of Democracy's biggest ever problems?

Hey, now that I've seen the light, I'm gonna go repeat over and over "My Microsoft Windows will never crash again. Out with the bugs! Crasheth no more!" and if I do it enough, maybe the low level magic will help my computer run smoother. I mean, it has been a bit buggy lately and all. I'll give it a try.

(ok, so I'm being a bit overly sarcastic. But excuse me for thinking that a declaration on my most beloved site on the web of "hey, defeat election fraud! Just chant and repeat a few phrases and they won't be able to steal it, trust me!" makes us look ridiculously silly, out of touch and unable to face our real problems with solid reality based solutions. I've been sending a lot of people to this site lately for factual information. The last thing I want to hear when I talk to them again is "Hey, I went to that site you mentioned, but you guys were asking me to chant and stuff so that my voting machine doesn't break down". That is what the OP is saying. I'm being asked to repeat some ridiculous statement and convince myself that is enough to thwart the threat to our democracy within the BBV machines. Sorry, ain't gonna happen.)

NOBODY is saying this is all we have to do and as I said in the OP I've been doing activism through traditional means since the last midterms. Why can't you get it through your head that these suggestions are optional and SUPPLEMENTARY to all the other more traditional forms of activism.

I thought perhaps a little spiritual unity would help everyone on the night before the election when tensions are high.

Of all the responses here, only you and one other went negative against this concept.

Sorry if one spiritually and "magically" oriented thread amongst the "brazillion" on this message board may cause you a modicum of embarrassment with your friends but these sorts of affirmations can and have really helped many overcome a sense of disempowerment and contribute to them being able to recognize some concrete options for redemptive actions they couldn't see before and motivate some into feeling as though they can indeed contribute on more practical levels.

This methodology works well for me as it does for others and is in NO way intended to encourage complacency. Quite the contrary in fact.

If it doesn't work for you it's probably because you don't believe it will.

Please have a little respect for those who find it helpful and if your motivated to dump all over this thread because some closed minded friends might tease you about it later then why don't you go and "ooga booga" someone on the phone instead. ;)

Sheesh. I thought you had lightened up a bit.

33. whether or not it helps (and I believe it does)...
...it makes me feel a lot better, while we wait, to visualize winning than to mentally revisit the past three stolen elections.

If I may add another suggestion--the books on visualization that I've read usually mention that it helps to imagine the situation so realistically and vividly that you feel the emotions related to the experience or situation that you want; e.g., relief, joy, anticipation of indictments :), etc. That is, don't just visualize celebrating--feel the physical sensations and emotions that would come with celebrating.

And if I may ask something of those who don't believe in this stuff: please don't pee in the Cheerios of those who do. It's just good manners to let people have their beliefs if they aren't doing anybody else any harm. I know most people who don't go for this kind of thing are polite about it, but....

You also seem to want to make fun of our chants, too!

Maybe there really is someone somewhere who chants with the words "Ooga Booga Smooga Wooga". I just don't know if there is or not.

It does have kind of a nice, melodic and calming (but also invigorating) sound and rhythm to it.

The "wise scribe" is one of the most intrepid and dedicated activists we have.

57. In My Humble Opinion,
your wise scribe is a ranting lunatic.

But thank him for his activism anyway. Lunatic or not, we can use all the GOTV efforts from people that we can get. I just have to hope he doesn't end his call by saying "And DON'T FORGET! When you're standing in front of the machine, chant ooga-booga-booga-shmooga-wooga ok? DON'T FORGET! Click".

the wise scribe didn't recommend the chant. That person recommended the visualization.

I tend to put that chant at the end of any of my spiritually oriented postings as it tends to deflect flamers but neglected to do it this morning so I had to edit it in.

Why do you find chanting so offensive? Some people do it silently ya know. . .and it gives them inner peace.

Now there's a real "mind crime." LOL

I one of those people you refer to stellnoir.

I frequently chant -- sometimes silently, sometimes outloud.

Not only does it give me inner peace, it hepls to focus my energy on outcomes I want.

It strengthens the spirit within me, and it enables my spirit to do great things -- like helping influence the outcome of elections.

I also never understand why some people are so offended by the mention of chanting.

The 'wise(lol)' scribe thinks that getting everyone to picture Nancy being the Speaker of the House will somehow help us to win tomorrow. Like I said, ranting friggin lunatic.

Here's a hint for ya: Visualization is an incredibly powerful tool that is absolutely beneficial in achieving a desired result. But that only applies when the outcome is something that is in your control to begin with, such as doing well on a test for example. Sports teams, public speakers, performers, salesman etc might all use forms of positive visualization in order to put their minds in the proper frame and give them subliminal strength to physically turn the visualization into reality. Visualization can absolutely work in such ways and is a mandatory practice for most who compete with anything or need to perform well with something. I recommend it to anybody.

However, visualizing a positive outcome with something not directly related to or able to be acted upon by the person doing the visualizing, is simply silly. In this specific application of it, the most the visualization is going to help you to do is to push the button correctly on the voting machine tomorrow. That's it. As far as just sitting back and chanting and visualizing that everything goes just ducky and we win both houses goes, that's just plain silly on its face. Visualization means nothing there, because the subliminal positive affects gained from it can't be used to do anything. So this oh so hilariously wise scribe is nothing more than a ranting lunatic in my opinion. I understand you have a different opinion of him, but that's mine, and it's quite firm.

"As far as just sitting back and chanting and visualizing that everything goes just ducky and we win both houses goes, that's just plain silly on its face."

Prayer and affirmations and activism are not mutually exclusive by any means.

If you had a clue who the "wise" one is to whom I referred and the enormity of their efforts, and the breadth of their work, you'd be far more embarrassed than you were upon reading this thread. That person did never, ever, ever suggest the practice of visualization in singularity or exclusivity.

These methods are meant to be supplementary to the more practical and traditional ones.

If you think in terms of ooga booga nooga, please do us a favor and don't interject your negative thoughts into what those of us who believe in the power of positive thinking are trying to do.

In the next tense hours through the election we must visualize our candidates winning, our elections being honest and those damn machines not flipping the vote. Negativity can also become reality. So envision your reality to be something that you want and are hoping for.

76. I do visualizations
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 03:28 PM by marions ghost
works for me better than verbal mantras or prayers...

*********************

I imagine Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and Hasdirt nowhere around.

I see John Conyers as Chair of the Judiciary Committee.

I visualize all the new Democrats soon to be in Congress.

I imagine challenges to elections helping to bring election reform.

I imagine touchscreens being avoided by voters in favor of paper ballots when possible.

I see election officials and poll watchers trying hard to make sure that everyone votes.

I visualize criminals being thwarted in their attempts to steal elections.

I imagine many Americans of both parties reaching deep into their hearts and coming to terms with the job that must be done tomorrow...as they reject the Republican agenda decisively at the polls.

I see some subdued Republicans staying home and facing the hard fact that something has gone drastically wrong with the leadership of their party.

I see Democrats and DUers everywhere energized and hopeful, and ready to help our leaders be all that they can be...strong enough to overcome the forces that will be galvanized against them.

I imagine a noticeable release of tension, as when a crisis has passed.

I see Karl Rove drinking heavily and the Chimperor popping his Ambien and going to bed early.

***************************

Did you already "see" all these things, anyone who read this? Then you have done your visualization for today.

(Thanks for the reminder for inner focus as well as outer focus, stellanoir).

78. What some elders say...
From Odyssey of the 8th Fire http://www.8thfire.net/Day_137.html

There is a phrase that is used among many of our elders these days: Remember the original instructions. These original instructions are beyond dogma; they are the patterns encoded within the DNA helix at the core of our genetic makeup.

Just as a guitar being tuned in one part of a room sets the strings of a piano in another part of the room to vibrating, so does the tuning of the universe set our minds in motion.

"Patterns of suffering have been seeded by the dissonance between what is ideal and what is. Movement toward the ideal including the hopes and prayers of all beings creates pathways for resolution."

I'm an atheist, but I am also a pagan, if that makes any sense. :)

In my frequently visited Slough of Despond I often forget how empowering thinking can be, the power that words have (and I'm a writer!), and the in-absolute nature of reality as suggested by quantum physics and string theory. I let the practical, atheist part of my mind shout angry, skeptical things at these truths (just like one of the posters below), not even noticing the irony of what I'm doing with that very action.

I'm not sure how I got stuck in the absurd place of believing in the worst possible outcomes, but never trusting in the best, and calling that "realism."

I was raised by fundie pentacostals, and heard many times, "As a man thinketh, so is he," and "...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure...think on these things." I have to remind myself every once in a while that there are things I can salvage from that unfortunate upbringing. :)

Thanks for the kick in the pants. :D

Edited to add: not implying that atheists are angry, just that my atheist half sometimes can be, in response to the fundie upbringing ;)

I can't imagine ever working an election without some feeling of optimism. Similarly, I can't imagine any scenario where it would be inappropriate to offer up a wish/prayer/chant that the elections be fair and according to the intent of the voters.

An excellent suggestion, Stella, and I'll most certainly try and do just that!

Then let it slip away
Let go of complicated feelings
Then there's no price to pay

We've been running from love
We've been running from love
And we don't know what we're doing here
No we don't know what we're doing here

We're only here
Sharing our free love
Let's make it clear

Just free love

"Higher Love"

I can taste more than feel
This burning inside is so real
I can almost lay my hands upon
The warm glow that lingers on

Moved, lifted higher
Moved, my soul's on fire
Moved, by a higher love

I surrender all control
To the desire that consumes me whole

And leads me by the hand to infinity
That lies in wait at the heart of me

Moved, lifted higher
Moved, my soul's on fire
Moved, by a higher love

Heaven bound on the wings of love
There's so much that you can rise above

Moved, lifted higher
Moved, moved, by a higher love
By a higher love

I surrender heart and soul
Sacrificed to a higher goal

Moved, moved by a higher love
By a higher love

Negative predictions are negative programming.

115. exactly what I thought when I read it
I've been thinking about this for the past couple of weeks. When Election Day was far away it was easy to get excited about how change was coming, but as the day came closer and closer I started thinking about 2004 all over again. God, what an unspeakably horrible night that was... and I kept reliving it and worrying about going through another one, etc etc.

This thread is one of several reminders I've had recently that this is not a productive use of my energy.

A friend of mine once told me that "worrying is praying for what you don't want." That really rang a bell with me and has helped me cut a lot of worrying off at the pass. My monkey mind still does takes an idea and plays with it and doesn't want to let it go--sure, I know that the Republicans have the machines and the incentive and the ability, etc etc. But this time, I also know that the will of the people is really strong this time, and collectively, we and our energy are stronger now than we were two years ago.

117. And there are even more of us now than there were 2 years ago.
Even right-wing publications are urging voters to dump the GOP.

:)

One easy way I found to understand the problem with worrying was this:
Imagine that you want to program to have something positive happen.
Do you put all of your energy and imagination behind visualizing what you don't want?
Of course not. But that's what worrying does.

133. Heart Sutra
"When the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara."

"Was Coursing in the Deep Prajna Paramita."

"He Perceived That All Five Skandhas Are Empty."

"Thus He Overcame All Ills and Suffering."

"Oh, Sariputra, Form Does not Differ From the Void,
And the Void Does Not Differ From Form.
Form is Void and Void is Form;
The Same is True For Feelings,
Perceptions, Volitions and Consciousness."

"Sariputra, the Characteristics of the
Voidness of All Dharmas
Are Non-Arising, Non-Ceasing, Non-Defiled,
Non-Pure, Non-Increasing, Non-Decreasing."

"Therefore, in the Void There Are No Forms,
No Feelings, Perceptions, Volitions or Consciousness."

"No Eye, Ear, Nose, Tongue, Body or Mind;
No Form, Sound, Smell, Taste, Touch or Mind Object;
No Realm of the Eye,
Until We Come to No realm of Consciousness."

"No ignorance and Also No Ending of Ignorance,
Until We Come to No Old Age and Death and
No Ending of Old Age and Death."

"Also, There is No Truth of Suffering,
Of the Cause of Suffering,
Of the Cessation of Suffering, Nor of the Path."

"There is No Wisdom, and There is No Attainment Whatsoever."

"Because There is Nothing to Be Attained,
The Bodhisattva Relying On Prajna Paramita Has
No Obstruction in His Mind."

"Because There is No Obstruction, He Has no Fear,"
"And He passes Far Beyond Confused Imagination."
"And Reaches Ultimate Nirvana."

"The Buddhas of the Past, Present and Future,
By Relying on Prajna Paramita
Have Attained Supreme Enlightenment."

"Therefore, the Prajna Paramita is the Great Magic Spell,
The Spell of Illumination, the Supreme Spell,
Which Can Truly Protect One From All Suffering Without Fail."

"Therefore He Uttered the Spell of Prajnaparmita,
Saying Gate, Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate, Bodhi Svaha."

Go beyond,go beyond go FAR beyond and Awaken!!!
Sa Sekhem Sahu!!!

"I am that I am, and the divinity in me is going to make a difference on this planet. Even my small efforts will create an energy that is larger than I can imagine, and combined with the efforts of others, will create a lasting peace on earth."

139. Great thread, stellanoir!
I am using my favorite hymn to keep and spread calm:

We shall overcome, we shall overcome,
We shall overcome some day
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe we shall overcome some day

We shall all be free, we shall all be free,
We shall all be free some day
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe we shall overcome some day

We shall live in peace, we shall live in peace,
We shall live in peace some day
Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe we shall overcome some day

There will always be skeptics - until something happens to them that they can't explain any other way. Remember Shakespeare spoke to this 400 years ago:
""There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Just like the naysayers who came on board on this thread!

George Bush has defeated himself!

The American Populace said, bad boy George.

I am ecstatic! The House is a winner for sure. If the dupes think to change that, unthinkable.
The Senate hangs by a thread.

I haven't slept. Cannot. I want my nation back. My country. My pledge.
Leave it to the carpet baggers to defeat themselves and let a little ju jit su prevail.

The tears tonight are for the change, and that should bring A shout heard round the world.
