RNC Response to Sen. Harry Reid's Flip Flop on the Davos Dems Filibuster Call

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a response released today by the Republican National Committee to Senator Harry Reid's position on Judge Samuel Alito's confirmation:

"Harry Reid's position on Judge Alito's confirmation has more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese. After stating an unwillingness to support a filibuster, it looks as though the Davos Democrats were able to twist Reid's arm enough to switch him from 'filibuster ... not me,' to 'filibuster ... oui, oui.'" -- Tracey Schmitt, RNC Press Secretary

Didn't Snotty try to make the same kind of joke this morning?

BRING IT ON!

7. That's kind of an obscure talking point.
I doubt that most of their intended audience will get it. Maybe that means they're getting desperate.

8. Here's what they get
Kerry is in Europe skiing while pretending to care about the Supreme Court, that's what the idjits will hear, including some around here. Never mind the large number of Republicans who are also there, because it's a nonpartisan global economic summit. Gads. They will just say any damned thing.

10. Never mind
that he left the summit early to return to DC because of this nomination. Did any of the Davos Republicans do that?

4. Mocking the French again.
I thought it was the MSM which issued the Reid not supporting a filibuster mem, that it didn't come from Reid's office, itself.

Tracey is a little sh*t, ya know.

9. keep up the pressure
Reid must have received a bunch of calls that made clear what his constituents want. We must continue to pressure the rest of the senators and make it clear that you will actively campaign against them in 06' if they won't support the filibuster.

12. What the fuck is wrong with these people?????
I mean, seriously, what the fuck? The RNC, next to the Republican House members, are the two most childish, disgraceful organizations that I've ever seen in my life. There should be a special circle of hell for people who are just so pathetically, tackily irritating and ridiculous.

13. Awe - the framing starts. Kerry is just playing politics by going with
his base. While stirring up gay hatred is statesmanship.

:boring:

15. Reid wanted a filibuster from day one
I have no doubt about that at all.

It's just that it is a really uphill climb and the deplorable habit that the Dems have been displaying for years now of just enough buckling to the Repukes, is proving tough to break.

He has needed our help, they can't sustain a filibuster without our voices, and this time we have been trying to do that. The phone calls, faxes and emails do help, especially when they are not done through a particular organization with a form letter, although I sign those too and always add my own original comments so it isn't immeidately disregarded as just "astro turf."

If we manage to get enough to support the filibuster the game will change. We will still have to call fax and email the Dems, so they will not buckle when Frist and Cheney drop the nooo cooo lar bomb, and the Dems respond by insisting on following all the rules to the letter, which will include reading every word of every bill on the floor and other similar tactics, all of which will have the effect of bringing Senate business to an almost complete halt. (Meaning Bush and the Repukes get essentially nothing - zip - zero from that point on).

We will then have to do very serious, purposeful battle directly with the media, which will be even more brutal on the Dems than they have ever been. Battles similar to the one recently, when so many rapidly rose to the occasion and knocked down the lies of that shill ombudsperson at WaPo.

party of flip floppers and obstructionists. Looks like the MSM is going to help them give it some legs.

18. This is...
... absolutely DISGUSTING. :nuke: Criticize using strong language, perfectly fine & acceptable, but this level of idiotic commentary is disgraceful. Shameful! This is a major political party, and its members, whether I agree with them or not, are not all idiots, some are smart respectable statesmen. How can they bear that something so completely moronic can be said in their name?

19. The resident was vacationing while New Orleans drowned
But I don't suppose the talking heads will mention that.

Kerry was attending an economic summit, at which important issues are being discussed: like Iran's nucular aspirations. Not that that's worthy of attention or anything. I'm sure the resident sent a high-ranking deputy assistant secretary to attend the meeting in his place...
