Do you think gas prices will shoot up after this election?
Edited on Sun Nov-05-06 11:05 AM by Blue_Roses
Everytime I pass our local "station" I can feel it coming. How long do you think it will take to get the prices back to three dollars a gallon?

My bet is by Christmas if not before.

2. Yes. They are on the way up now I believe because people are not fooled
by the manipulation of gas prices any longer. I have talked to four or five non-politically involved people who have mentioned that gas prices are being changed to influence elections. People know.

3. Sounds about right, they do seem to love sticking to us at X-mas.
OTOH, we keep taking it and asking for more.

4. Gas Prices
They'll start heading back up within a week or two, in all likelihood.

shrub and his neocon buddies at halibutron are too stupid and greedy to go without their incredible profits for too long.

27. Welcome to DU Andreas
Shoot up not right away, I believe they'll start a steady rise and next spring we'll be back to three bucks a gallon with more this summer.

8. yep, and heating oil, which never went down much- will skyrocket-
which is pretty odd, since gasoline is more refined than diesel-...

My bet is Thanksgiving-
but I'd love to lose the bet-

21. the fact the war machine runs on diesel is part of it
Two weeks ago in the Seattle area heating oil was the lowest it had been in 10 months, 2.33 a gallon. However, compared to gas it was late to drop in price.

10. Not unless the supply situation changes....
Or OPEC's 1 million barrel a day production cut takes affect. I think the lack of hurricanes brought the prices down to be honest this time. Although there could honestly be some shadiness involved.

15. Nothing will have to change though
all they have to do is say they fear __________ will affect supplies and prices will rise. When they shot up this summer one of the main supposed reasons was fear of hurricanes hitting the Gulf waters. You would think hurricanes never hit the Gulf of Mexico before a couple years ago with their sudden price raising fear of them.

11. Did anyone see where ford and Gmc gained in the last quarter
because of the insentives and lower gas prices... I say the will linger about 2.35 until after X-mas and then they will bust the 3.00 mark.

And since it's getting colder outside, the cost of heating our houses will be going up as well. And this coming from a guy who usually discounts conspiracy theories.

If the Saudi's cut supply, it will go up, but not that much, not that fast.

Anyone in a cold region who uses oil heating would be wise to do the same, especially when you have 400 gallons to buy.

And most of the fundies will believe their silly ass explanations, if they even bother to offer any. They really won't have any reason to impress fundies again until 2008, and by that time...well, new shiny objects will be developed to catch their attention.

35. Add $0.25 in the first month. Back to $3.00 by end of January.
And we'll be hearing the same shit about refinery capacity and the choking environmental restrictions.
