Yeah, we know he's scum. Yeah, he should rot in prison or even hang.

BUT IT'S NOT NEWS.

Don't let the news distract you from the task at hand. We've got a Democratic Congress to install.

1. Watching Russert tonight, it's not going to matter. No one cares at
this point, including Chuck Todd, Stu Rothenburg, and Charlie Cook.

2. A minor blip.
They'll flap their gums about it all day tomorrow. But when Iraq breaks out in full press violence, they'll talk more about how big a mess ChimpCo has gotten this country in and how big a hit the GOP is going to take on Tuesday.

3. Kangaroo courts don't issue verdicts, they issue forgone conclusions.

6. Statements like that
could disparage the future trials for bushco here.

11. non sequitur
I don't think that necessarily follows - Iraq is not like the USA - at least I hope not!

4. It might remind people that if
he is gone why are we still there? We should have left instead of staying at that point. Given them a check, said it's your country and brought the troops home.

5. it will certainly be news in Iraq.... and may ignite the "civil war"
it's not going to affect the outcome of the election, but to say it won't be "news" is wrong.

7. It'll Hasten The Rethug Death Spiral
Even if Saddam hangs, it won't help the Rethugs - people will say - "That's it? That's why we attacked Iraq, lost thousands, killed hundreds of thousands, and spent trillions? Where are the angels blowing trumpets? That's all there is?"

Nothing can help the Rethugs at this point. The die is cast.

10. Is this the power of insignificant thinking? :o)
If we wish hard enough for the media to make this a non-story, it will be such?

I do think we should avoid letting this news distract us - good idea.

12. Why is everyone so afraid of the Saddam ruling?
Yes, it freaking IS important. It will have an impact on the future of Iraq, and although it's not a place that our troops should ever have been sent to, it is important.

You don't have to get scared and create talking points. He's guilty, end of story...which is in fact a story.

13. Never underestimate the power of the GOP spin machine
And take a good look at the polls. Jim Webb is ahead in VA by only one point. Claire McCaskill is ahead in MO by only one point. Too many races are hanging in the balance when they should be Democratic blowouts - and when they're this close, that's where the Diebold machines come into play.

Everyone KNEW this would happen. It's nothing NEW. It's NOT news. IGNORE IT! DON'T PERPETUATE THEIR PROPAGANDA!
