Will Hussein Verdict Effect Elections Here?

Will this solidify more of the Republican base to come out to vote? Get ready, because Baghdad is braced, and our troops will be in worse danger regardless of the verdict. And I suspect this will be what dominates the news cycles until the election, because Republicans will be trying to get as much mileage out of this as they can. So what do you think? Any effect at all?

1. I have a couple of clients who are Bush's base
One of them brought up the Saddam verdict thingy to me a couple of weeks ago kinda like it was going to be a big deal.

I asked him if he thought it would make any difference on what is going on in Iraq. He grudgingly admitted that it would make no difference and that kinda ended the conversation

3. No difference in Iraq?
Sorry, but I think it will make a difference in Iraq. The sunnis will be deflated, and perhaps even more determined then to get back power. it certainly won't have a non effect there.

2. With all the violence and deaths I doubt
this will help repukes. It will just highlight the devastation of the bushes war.

4. I do not think
it will help republicans in any meaningful way. Saddam, who absolutely is a terrible human being, has lost all of the power he once had. Any of the film clips we see of him today show a man reduced to an extent that he no longer causes the same emotional reaction among the vast majority of Americans.

His being sentenced, however, could have a more significant response in Iraq. Certainly many people there will be pleased his trial is over. However, for others, it may spark a violent reaction. And it has come to pass that in the USA, the majority of citizens recognize that violence in Iraq equals more US deaths.

6. If the insurgents launch a massive military campaign after the verdict...
and kill a few thousand people in one day, then THAT will effect the election.

Can anyone say "Tet Offensive?"

7. No it will not affect our elections.
What will have an effect is getting as many people as we possibly can to the polls on tuesday. There is a tsunami surging straight at the cabal in washington. We need to do everything we can too make the surge that hits them as big and devastating as it possibly can be.

Get on the phone and get out the vote.

8. There is one effect it will have among the conservative base...
It will remind millions of voters that this one man is the reason we went into Iraq, got 2800 American troops killed, ruined our international goodwill after 9/11, and now listen to reports of daily carnage in Iraq (those of us who can stand to let such news into their beautiful minds, that is).

Yes, it will have an effect on the elections. The same effect all reminders of Iraq have with voters today.
