Condoleezza Rice to Present 2006 Awards for Corporate Excellence

<snip>

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will announce and present the 2006 Awards for Corporate Excellence (ACE) on Monday, November 6, 2006, at 12:00 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the U.S. Department of State.

The Secretary of State has awarded the ACE since 1999 in recognition of the vital role that U.S. businesses play worldwide to advance good corporate governance and democratic principles and to highlight the Department's commitment to promote exemplary business practices globally.

The three 2006 ACE winners were selected from among the following 12 finalists: APCO in China, Chevron in Indonesia, Coca-Cola in Mexico, Delta Construction in Vietnam, General Motors in Colombia, Goldman Sachs in Chile, Kerr McGee in Benin, McDonald's in Guatemala, Microsoft in Egypt, Motorola in Iraq, Pfizer in Pakistan, and Sambazon in Brazil.

After the presentation of the awards by the Secretary, Under Secretary for Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs, Josette Sheeran, will lead the interactive portion of the ACE ceremony via satellite with U.S. Ambassadors and local company executives at the U.S. Embassies which submitted winning nominations. The program will conclude with an interactive dialogue between the Washington audience and selected experts moderated by Assistant Secretary for Western Hemiphere Affairs, Tom Shannon.

I'm disgusted. Aren't you? Is this what you want from your state department...a corporate cheerleader who had an oil tanker named after her?

Shouldn't she be in, say, Iraq or Afghanistan?

:grr:

4. Did you ever think they'd appoint somebody
who knew WTF they were doing? Rummy and Cheney would never sit still for that. Powell had the right instincts but lacked the cojones to stand up to these asswipes. Even so that was a little too threatening and he had to go. Now they have this dipshit in there which really works out well for them. She can give * a BJ every now and then which keeps him out of their hair and when they need to get her out of their way they can send her to some meaningless meeting in Bumfuck Egypt while they put a few more billions in their pockets.

Breaking with long-standing tradition, Condi is campaigning

Hey, it's not like she's got anything else to do like, say, Iraq. The world is such a secure place under the brilliant leadership of Bush's foreign policy team. But Condi is breaking the tradition that the Secretary of State avoids partisan politics:

Two weeks before crucial midterm elections that could tip the balance of power in Congress, Rice has been on a media blitz that appears aimed mainly at conservative media outlets, particularly radio talk shows. Secretary of state is traditionally a nonpartisan position, and Rice's media itinerary differs sharply from the practice of her predecessors during election campaigns, according to State Department records.

Rice has given nine interviews on radio, starting with three appearances on Oct. 24 during "Radio Day," when 42 radio hosts, most of them conservatives, were invited to the White House to spread the administration's message to President Bush's political base.

This is just another example of the Bush team putting politics over policy. Condi is campaigning instead of dealing with all the major problems created by her boss. They have no plan for Iraq, it's all just politics to the Bush team.

12. Sickening, but true
The world hates US. And she's campaigning.

Maybe she'll run for president.
