Iran did not fall for the bait and cooperate with Bush's escallation. But that doesn't mean much. Bush is going to need distractions after the election just as badly as he has always needed them.

7. I think we can safely assume that it has been delayed for the time being -- but NOT

that the idea has been shelved altogether. How long it has been delayed may very well depend on the outcome of the November elections. Our best hope (unfortunately) lies with the possible reluctance of the military to go along with the idea.

The most important thing is to remain alert and as informed as possible. Attacking Iran will take our country (and the world) completely over a cliff...

Invading, as in "sending troops in", is obviously impossible for the US. But Bush still has the capability to bomb. I personally doubt he will, either before the election or after, because I think there are too many military people telling him what chaos it will cause in Iraq (ie everyone targets US troops exclusively), and too many economists telling him how much it will screw up the world oil market, for him to be able to get away with it. It really would be impeachable. But he might be that stupid - or he might manage to sack enough advisers and find enough yes-men to make it look as thugh he's following 'sensible advice'.
