Saddam's Verdict Date - It's worse than it sounds
It's on November the 5th.

It's on a Sunday.

Furthermore, Iraq is around 8 hours ahead of us.

We'll hear the brunt of Saddam's verdict on the SIXTH, only one day before the election.

We need to nullify this, I suggest collaborating with the other Progressive Sites and Boards to get out the information on Saddam's ties with the Republicans, some of them in the Bush Administration today.

1. ya know, honestly, I don't think that will have as much resonance with
people as much Rove thinks,.

they should have put him in his hidey hole and pulled him out again.

3. Personally..I think it will blow up in their smug little faces...
Here's a scenario that I am sure they are not thinking of..
They sentance saddam to death..the pro-saddam loyalists that are running around Iraq go crazy..
The country ingnites and goes all to hell..
Just in time for the election..
C'mon...since when have these idiots been able to read Iraq?

6. I don't believe it makes any difference
If they decide to hang him there will be massive riots in the Sunni areas. If they decide to let him go there will be massive riots in the rest of Iraq. Either way it will just serve to remind Amurkin voters how fucked up Iraq is, and that cannot benefit republican candidates whoever they are.

7. So, uh, where is bin Laden?
Honestly, I don't give a damn about Saddam Hussein anymore. The courtroom is basically rigged so that a guilty verdict will be reached. It's a simple flowchart scenario:

1. Saddam is found guilty.
2. If Saddam is not found guilty, replace judge and jury and see Step 1.

10. We can easily defuse...
...any positive outcome the GOP may gain with this trick.

We have to get democratic politicians and liberal leaning shows to break the news now and shed light on the fact that Bush lets things drag on without caring about the length of a trial or a war, as long as everything looks good before an election.

Like that fence bull shit that went down yesterday. Bush doesn’t give a damn about our borders. ...Or the biggest for instance of all...Bush was all “Stay the course” until it was election time.

We have a week to make this old news.

11. spread the word
Tell everyone you know that the verdict was supposed to be announced on October 16. Instead, the verdict was delayed until November 5, Iraq time. You got Yahoo and Reuters backing you up:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061016/ts_nm/iraq_saddam_dc

Better yet, tell folks that you're psychic and you can predict the exact day of Saddam's verdict! They'll think you have superpowers! :)

13. Honestly, I think this is just too blatant. Not to mention-
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 10:49 PM by Marr
this is a trial we're talking about. It's just too obvious that the Bush Administration is manipulating the situation to score political points at home. I think it's going to contribute to the Iraq aggravation, myself. I think alot of people will resent the fact that 1) the Bush Administration is playing around with Iraq policy like it's just a political toy, and 2) they seem to think the public is retarded.

17. Saddam had nothing to do with WMD and we shouldn't even be in Iraq.
This isn't going to help the repukes. Most people want us OUT of Iraq. Saddam is a side show. PLUS, I don't think the MSM is going to let the cabal take over the air waves with this issue the day before a MAJOR election. JMCPO.

18. Saddam = Iraq = Ugly War
I honestly don't see an upside for the Repugnicans about the timing and plenty of down. If Saddam is convicted, as we all expect, the so what...this doesn't hasten the day our troops leave and could escalate fiolence. If he's found innocent, then the entire adventure in Iraq is exposed as a total sham and waste of time as Saddam was the reason for the invasion and if he's set free that is a total repudiation from the Iraqi people of not just his brutality but of American involvement as well. Again, it doesn't speed up the time our troops can come home. The third option...and one I get a sneaky suspicion could happen...would be a mistrial and we start this game all over again and then it shows the incompetence of all involved. Again, I see little upside here that could have any positive affect for Repugnica on the elections

But then again, maybe it'll just remind people how bad Iraq is and they won't even care about the verdict.
