If only dihydrogen monoxide was a terrorist
The Republicans would do something about it.

Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:
* Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
* Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
* Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
* DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
* Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
* Contributes to soil erosion.
* Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
* Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
* Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
* Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
* Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
* Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.

Dihydrogen monoxide hoax
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The logo of DHMO.org, primary current residence of the dihydrogen monoxide hoaxDihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) is an obscure name for water, used in hoaxes that illustrate how ignorance of science and one-sided analysis can lead to misplaced fears.

The hoax involves listing strictly negative effects of water, such as erosion or death by drowning, attributing them to "dihydrogen monoxide", and then asking individuals to help control the seemingly dangerous substance. It was apparently created by Eric Lechner, Lars Norpchen and Matthew Kaufman, housemates while attending UC Santa Cruz in 1989, revised by Craig Jackson in 1994, and was brought to widespread public attention in 1997, when Nathan Zohner, a 14-year-old student, gathered petitions to ban "DHMO" as the basis of his science project, titled "How Gullible Are We?"<1>

7. Then you also know...
...that excessive amounts of DHMO has destroyed so much property that the cost to the American economy is an untold amout of money.

In fact, it may be the costliest of all molecules when its damage to life and property is properly evaluated.

9. Nah, they like it
They even blamed trace amounts of DHMO as causing voting machines in democratic districts to freeze up, washing away hundreds of votes.

And they'd just love to DHMO-board you.

And too many of their kin live in concentrations of the stuff.

5. If you know science you would catch this, but most do not. Most
forget the periodic table the second they don't have to memorize it anymore for their chem test.

6. Bwahaha...
I was the lone nerd who loved nomenclature in my HS chem classes, and used to scare people in the lunchroom this way. :)
