The government was spying on.....vegetarians?!

An undercover DeKalb County Homeland Security detective was assigned to conduct surveillance of the protest and the protestors, and take the photographs. The detective arrested Childs and another protester after he saw Childs approach him and write down, on a piece of paper, the license plate number of his unmarked government car.

"They told me if I didn't give over the piece of paper I would go to jail and I refused and I went to jail, and the piece of paper was taken away from me at the jail and the officer who transferred me said that was why I was arrested," Childs said on Wednesday.

Not sure if this is a dupe or not, but I found this on another site. Apparently, the ACLU has released surveillance photos they gathered from a government file that collected information on vegan and vegetarian groups. They were spying on vegetarians who held some protest. The article has pictures of the people they were spying on (illegally). They sure don't look like Al-Queda to me.

1. That's pretty @*^%#%$*(& scary
I would LOVE to know why they are spying. What are they trying to find out? Our country is such a mess with this extreme political corruption.

10. Hitler was a vegetarian.
And Hitler fought against us in WWII.

Therefore, it's okay for Homeland Secuity to spy on vegetarian groups.

See? No problem!

Kind of a funny vegetarian, dontcha think? His own cook wrote about how Hitler WASN'T a vegetarian. He actually had members of vegetarian organizations arrested. Why does that sound familiar?

13. refusing to eat good 'merican food is subversive
Next thing you know, people will turn into pacifists or something. Can't have that!

Also, animal rights activism is terrorism. These people are clearly out to destroy our God-fearing, meat-eating, fur-wearing, animal-torturing country...they must be spied on for the sake of freedom.

"An undercover DeKalb County Homeland Security detective was assigned to conduct surveillance of the protest and the protestors, and take the photographs."

Oh yeah...they are only doing surveillance on those who have ties to Al Queda. Riiiiiiiiiight!

21. Well, we all know how close veganism is to Militant Islam.
I mean, they're kissing cousins! I knew this vegan dude once who saw "Brokeback Mountain" and became a Islamofascist gay tree-hugger with a Volvo and a latte in each hand THE NEXT DAY!

And even though "Brokeback Mountain" came out last year, I'm CONVINCED he was one of the 19 hijackers on 9/11/01. Bank on it!

23. vegetarians are part of a larger movement of
greens, environmentalists, and progressives in general, which a totalitarian type of leader wants to squash, seeing them as a threat.

30. I don't understand why this story didn't make national headlines
How is it not news that there is easily understandable, everyday PROOF of this administration violating our civil rights?

This isn't wiretapping to look for terrorists, this is surveillance of people picketing a ham store. It would be absolutely ridiculous if it weren't so scary.

Seriously, would anti-ham activists have been arrested for writing down a license plate number in the Soviet Union? (And if the answer is "yes," what does that tell us about America today?)
