50 years of civil, human and women's rights advances are at stake - from Brown v. Board of Education, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

If Judge Alito is confirmed to the Supreme Court, the civil rights gains made over the last five decades will indisputably be reversed, along with the expansion of job opportunities, woman's right to choose without prohibitions and insurmountable obstacles, campaign finance reform, the right to be free of state-sponsored discrimination, and the protection of Americans' civil liberties in times of national crisis.

Based on Judge Alito's record, rulings and recent testimony, we are more convinced than ever that his confirmation will solidify the concerted right-wing strategy developed during the Reagan administration to radically remake the federal judiciary. It has become clear that this systematic conservative take-over will come to fruition with Judge Alito's confirmation.

Judge Alito must be kept off of the Supreme Court. On critical issues such as privacy rights, civil rights, and the limits of executive power, Judge Alito does not have an "open mind."
