Need help countering a RWer argument about embryonic stem cell research
One of my co-workers, who is a staunch conservative, has been trying to say that there haven't been any advances in embryonic stem cell research, that the only advances have been using adult stem cells. So far, my only response has been "of course, because Bush has banned federal funds for embryonic stem cell research". Kinda hard to get much work done when there isnt' any funding.

HAVE there been any positive advancements made that I can throw back in his face? I'm sure there have been some elsewhere in the world, or through the private sector perhaps.

5. Here are some links:
http://www.stemcellresearchfoundation.org/

Scroll down and you'll find the newest research for 2006.

Also, if you go to Google Scholar http://scholar.google.com and type in "embryonic stem cells" you get a bunch of recent research.

The argument that only adult stem cells have had any success is a tired right wing talking point and utter bullshit.

6. Thanks!
I tried doing a simple Google search, was having a hard time finding anything substantial. I'll be sure to check those out, and set him straight.

7. Ask him how he's enjoying that
"hydrogen-powered car" that's been on the market ...

I love these types ... "All evolutionists have to do is create life in a laboratory." Okay, give scientists a billion years or so ... we went from Kitty Hawk to the moon in less than 70 years ... went from 64K on a desk-size computer to a little thing on your keychain that holds at least 2 GIG in less than 30 years ...
