Haven't you heard about the MEXICAN STANDOFF? (RW radio)
I actually heard this yesterday on NPR which reported on it as a news item. I then heard about it on the local radio call in show. I called and talked to the soundboard guy about who the source was he said to google "Mexican Standoff" so I did. Seems to be all Fox News and World Net Daily.

This could be true. Corruption is Mexico is nothing new in fact some people say there is a culture of corruption but that is a whole other story...right?

The radio blowhard of course was asking thin air "Why does America not fight them?" The same sentiment is found here http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48510
Note that they aren't the ones heavily outgunned (IF this is true).

Also note that Chertoff himself blew this off as "overblown" so the cries of the liberal media not paying this any attention are, as usual, misplaced. The Bush Administration doesn't want it covered so it isn't covered or it at best it is covered as they want it to be.

Okay here are the links. I would love to hear your opinions on this.

1. What an interesting "secret" they're keeping
From experience (I was raised in that part of the country) I can say that many, many people acting in an official capacity are on the take and are above the law. We were warned as teens never to get caught speeding or breaking any laws in Mexico as we may end up missing for the rest of our lives. We all had friends who sometimes spent weeks in Mexican jails because they drank too much and became vulnerable. If you had enough cash on you they would almost always send you on your way. As far as stealing cars, it happens all the time, they found one of my fathers stolen cars was being driven by the police chief of Juarez.

These people may or may not be the Mexican Military but it will be no surprise to me if they are.

2. "I've never met an honest Mexican police officer at any level"
So said a former CIA agent turned kidnapping and executive protection insurance authority/salesman at a conference I attended once. He said it openly in a room at a insurance conference.

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard this. I could be Mexican military it would be no big surprise if it were.
