Swift-boating Harold Ford: GOP Aims Sleazy Blonde-Bimbo TV Ad At Ford
RNC TV Ad Swift-boats Harold Ford (D-TN)

“She's a brassy trailer-trash blonde. She wears cheap make-up, gaudy K-Mart jewelry, and speaks in dumb-blonde-bimbo dialect. . . She gushes, "I met Harold at the Playboy Party."

…At the end of the ad, she winks and delivers the Girls Gone Wild line, "Harold, call me!"

Other sleazy characters include the sloppy black woman who forgot to comb her hair and appears to need a bath and the shady-looking dude who seems to be a porn consumer and says it's no big deal if Ford takes money from porn producers.”

Best part of the ad: "The Republican National Committee is responsible for the content of this advertisement."

They don't even have the sense to be embarrassed.

The ad (video):

1. .
Every day they hit a new low. Always appealing to the racists.
One day, I hope that the people will get sick of that crap and punish anyone who makes dumb ads like this.

21. Let's hope that day is Nov. 7th.
And if ads like this are the "big guns" meant to destroy Democrats... I hope they cost a lot of money.

2. Great Ad!
Almost makes me want to move to Tennessee to vote - but first we need to kick "Queen of the Brownshirts" Healey's ass here in Mass.

7. Truly, it's more like a comedy spoof! This is the first time that I've
seen it, but people have been calling our local hdqtrs. talking about it.

Hope it cost a fortune to make, cause somebody(ies) didn't get a good product for the investment.

25. Not certain, but it seemed to be a combo of outraged calls, along with
questioning ones and disgusted (with dirty GOP tactics) ones. I was overhearing the calls coming in while I was making calls to go to pick people up to take them to the polls, then dashing out and dashing back in to make more calls and to pick more people up. Just catching bits and pieces here and there on my way in and out, and then asking when I could about the ad and the responses. The phones are ringing off the hook there with questions about early voting, what's on the ballot, when's the next time Ford is gonna be in town, who's covering an event, etc.

You know, just the normal, crazy atmosphere this close to an election!

28. Just trying to do my part, and it has been enjoyable so far! The elderly
folks that I've been picking up are more informed than my mother (although I think she's willfully uninformed). The most delightful one was a lady who voted for the first time the year that I was born (1960). She mentioned bush**'s power grabs and we agreed laughingly that we both miss Nixon - at least someone tried to stop him. She actually stated that bush** is more paranoid and more mentally ill than Nixon. She stated, "anytime the republicans are in charge it isn't good for us average citizens".

And get this - they're all voting AGAINST the gay marriage ban that is on the ballot!!! They have more of a live and let live attitude, along with "they're citizens of this country aren't they?" than younger folks that I come into contact with.:wow:

I'll see who I come into contact with next week!

8. It's a real ad
Believe it. And they are even stupid enough to run it in Ford's hometown, predominantly black Memphis. We are going to see some voter rage!

Republicans stink!

20. I'll take your word that's a real ad, but I can't believe ANYONE
would be so stupid. Gives new meaning to "we can't make this up, folks!"

Thanks for sharing, Egalia.

The ad is so over the top that it mocks the meaning of a trashy ad.

The president & the porn star

I want you to imagine the squeals of outrage we would have heard if, back in the 1990s, President Clinton spoke to a Democratic congressional fund-raising dinner attended by a porn star and a pornographer.

But the "family values" Republicans are mute about just such an event scheduled for next week – involving not Clinton, but President Bush.

Last week, Carl Forti, communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee, explained to WND that self-described pornographer Mark Kulkis and his date, porn star Mary Carey, will be attending the two-day event, "The 2005 President's Dinner and Salute to Freedom," next Monday and Tuesday because their money is just as good as anyone else's.

16. And they are stupid enough to show this in Memphis!
It's been said many times that a large black turnout will mean a victory for Ford. We may want to thank the RNC for this little get-out-the-outraged-black-vote effort.

17. If you throw too much sh*t at the wall, each piece knocks the others off.
I don't think any of that is going to stick. It's a boorish ad. What, did they have a contest to make an anti-Ford ad, and Karl Rove's kid won?

18. Ford's opponent (Corker) denounces the ad, calls it "tacky"
That was in today's Nashville Tennessean. Of cource, Bob Corker also embraces George Bush, wants us to "stay the course" in Iraq, attacks Congressman Ford's family at every opportunity, and hires nonresidents to extol his virtues as mayor of Chattanooga (where he enriched himself with insider real estate deals). If anyone would know what tacky smells like, it would be Bob Corker.
