Time for unity, or time to smack them down? WARNING: RANT
U.S. Rethinks Strategy to Cut Iraqi Violence

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iraq20oct20,0,3840472.story?coll=la-headlines-world

(Accompanying the story, in the print edition only, is a photo of a man with a bloodied woman, possibly his wife, on a stretcher. The man is yelling for help in a Baghdad hospital, and the caption says the woman "died moments later".)

Now, I try to keep an open mind, hear both sides of the story, right to your own opinion, blah blah. We have an election coming up, and it's time to welcome the swing voters to our side of the camp, right? But I read this story then had the bad timing to run into a Republican neighbor and hear him claim (falsely) that he never supported the war.

And I lost it. I got totally redfaced, ballistic, postal. I got uncivil, and expecting this brave Republican to put on a brave front and have it out with me, I thought this is it--I'm never going to speak with him again, but at least I'll set the record straight. But instead of arguing with me he cowered like a little fucking puppy, he wilted like a little flower. I would have felt sorry for this pathetic POS, had not so many people died because of people like him.

So I have vowed to pass along to all of those who are "rethinking strategy" (i.e., rewriting history, entering denial)--excuse me, but the time to rethink strategy expired three and a half years ago. Anyone who supported this invasion, this tragedy, this catastrophe, actively or passively--

WE TOLD YOU SO. SUCK IT UP.

AND PLEASE--for the sake of everyone--GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY. Don't vote, you don't know what the hell you're doing. You're kids with loaded shotguns--put it down, go to your room.

1. Agreed...

..and to hell with those who think we need to come to a bipartisan "solution" to the "Iraq mess."

Crimes against humanity and crimes against our Constitution have been committed by this Administration, and many of this Congress, including more than a couple of Democrats.

They all must be held to account.

8. "Iraq Mess" = Bush's War
and it should be labeled as such.

2. I think it's time to do what is effective
If it is effective to rub their noses in it, than let's do that. If it's effective to let them some off the hook, than let's do that.

6. Somehow I believe the neighbor will be voting Democrat
and that my little tantrum might help push him that way.

Sometimes anger is a good thing.

5. I say Hell NO!
We need to keep their failures front and center and make them accountable for their crimes.
No making nice with these criminals.

7. No More Mr. Nice Guy
I used to be such a sweet, sweet thing
Till they got a hold of me
I opened doors for little old ladies
I helped the blind to see
I got no friends 'cause they read the papers
They can't be seen with me
And I'm gettin' real shot down
And I'm feelin' mean

No more Mister Nice Guy
No more Mister Clean
No more Mister Nice Guy
They say he's sick, he's obscene

I got no friends 'cause they read the papers
They can't be seen with me
And I'm feelin' real shot down
And I'm gettin' mean

No more Mister Nice Guy
No more Mister Clean
No more Mister Nice Guy
They say he's sick, he's obscene

My dog bit me on the leg today
My cat clawed my eye
Mom's been thrown out of the social circles
And dad has to hide
I went to church incognito
When everybody rose the Reverend Smithy
He recognized me and punched me in the nose

He said, no more Mister Nice Guy
No more Mister Clean
No more Mister Nice Guy
He said you're sick, you're obscene

11. Unity after the war crime trials, hearings, sentencing and / or executions
Edited on Fri Oct-20-06 12:11 PM by Truth Hurts A Lot
Not a moment before!

We owe at least that much to the 2700+ soldiers and 655,000+ Iraqis.
