Priest Confesses: Had a "Relationship" With Teenage Mark Foley
A 72-year-old Catholic priest now living on an island near Malta has admitted he had a close relationship that "may have gone too far" with former Congressman Mark Foley when Foley was a 12- or 13-year-old altar boy in Florida, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune newspaper.

The priest, Anthony Mercieca, told the paper he and the teenage Foley shared a room on trips, went skinny dipping and that there was one encounter he didn't clearly remember when he was on drugs for a nervous breakdown.

Foley resigned from Congress Sept. 29 after ABC News obtained sexually explicit instant messages he sent to a teenage former page. Another former page claimed he had a sexual encounter with former Rep. Foley soon after the page turned 18.

1. Charge the old pervert
Send him to jail for misusing his position of authority over young boys.

By the way, this does not in any way make what that other old pervert Foley did ok.

2. Exactly
In fact, knowing the negative impact it had on him should have put him on guard against doing it to someone else. But watch the thugs try to spin this into sympathy for "Mark the Victim".

3. This is SUCH a pitiful display - whose sympathy is

Foley going for anyway? Will the priest now reveal who molested HIM, and so on and so on?

Jebus!

4. Marky wants us to feel sorry for him. This is the history of many
preditors but it is not an excuse.

5. Sorry, no can do
I feel bad that he is another in this terrible scandal of Catholic Priests taking advantage of children but this in no way excuses his own behavior.

I do hope they go after the Pervert Priest who actually had the balls to say " although Foley plans to “expose him to the world,” he still has “great memories of our trips.” “I wish him well,” Mercieca said. “Let bygones be bygones

Fuck you Go to jail Rev. Anthony Mercieca

9. If you read my whole statement I said it is not an excuse for Marky.
Understanding is one thing, condoning his action is another. The pugs are condoning his actions when they did the coverup.

7. So much for the party of personal responsibility
Or their goal of bring adult government to Washington.

It is a joyful thing to watch the beast start carving
itself up with the knife they had been only moments ago
stabbing at us with.

8. Ok, but how about the kids who grow up in poverty who turn to stealing
to get food or clothes--the GOP always says that is no excuse, just like this should be no excuse.

10. The Priest did not say they had a sexual relationship
and he did not feel that he did anything to lead Foley to later molest children.

He said the news people have exaggerated what he told them.
