The goal of the framers of our constitution was to protect peoples' natural rights and limit the power of government. They saw the constitution as a contract between the people and government.

But out of this current chaotic political confusion that we are subjected to, out of these times when our very rights are in peril, when a person is accused of supporting terrorism just for questioning the president, a man has stepped forward. He is a throwback to the likes of Jefferson and Paine before him and therefore is the antithesis to such propagandists as Bill O'Reilly and Michael Savage. He is none other than Keith Olbermann of MSNBC.
In his show, which airs daily, he does a great service to the American public by exposing the major news outlets in perhaps deliberate factual mistakes, misinformation and propaganda reminiscent to the days of Goebbel and the Nazis.

But perhaps his most important contribution to the ideals of liberty was his expose on the suspension of Habeas Corpus by the US congress on Sept. 29. Habeas Corpus is a part of the constitution that ensures that no person can be held in prison without first being charged with a specific crime. The Constitution only allows for its suspension when we are either being invaded or when there is a rebellion within our borders. Neither one of these conditions have been met. This is dangerous for all of us.

To quote Thomas Paine, " These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crises, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of men and women." Keith Olbermann is one of these men.
