She pointed out the the video shows Minutemen kicking the students who were threateningly unfurling a scary banner. Also, that the Minutependejo's immigration policy is, "it should be legal to shoot illegals."

Maybe he just felt naked without his hood?

This man is dangerous. How can he claim to be an advocate for free speech when he wants to knuckle-sandwich those who don't agree with him?

I look forward to someone giving the guy a pie in the face if he actually manages to run for president in '08. If he thinks holding a dissenting banner up in someone's presence is threatening a person's rights as a citizen, why would he suggest stopping and questioning and demanding papers from any other citizens?

I watched a clip on Youtube. I have to say I was not impressed with Garcia or Gilchrist both. Garcia spouts a lot of drek about Gilchrist being a murderer and racist, and Gilchrist simply walks. I really wish he hadn't done that.

I do not agree with some of the MMP's motivations, specifically the Pat Buchanan theories of culture clash, but there is nothing particularly wrong with the Minuteman Project. Allegations of racism are quite flimsy... "All the people crossing the border illegally are Mexicans. The Minutemen are against people immigrating illegally... they must hate Mexicans!!!!!1111" It is like saying that anyone who opposes some of Israels recent actions is anti-semetic. It is an empty shock tactic, it means nothing, can't be proven, puts the accused on the defence immediately and shifts the subject away from the original issue - in this case, illegal immigration.

Racists are NOT allowed into the Minutemen; the American Nazi Party and other supremacists have protested this. It is worth noting that absolutely no news agency that I am familiar with has reported any connections between the Minutemen and the National Alliance, and the media has NOT been kind to them; if they found one, they would go ape.

IF there is a connection - and that is an IF - I suspect it is monetary, in the form of a donation. Strongly debated issues can make for strange bedfellows; I remember when PETA and the NRA got together to oppose hunting by remote over the internet. Their reasons were different; PETA opposes hunting altogether (and hates the NRA which obviously supports the sport). The NRA felt it was detracting from the healthy, outdoor, natural aspect of hunting (and hates PETA). It isn't relevant, it is just an example.

Jim Gilchrist and the Minutemen don't want to shoot anyone. It isn't what they are about. There is no murder, there is no torture, there are no desert maroonings. Minutemen have provided dehydrated illegals with water and food before turning them in.

All they want is a secured border. They do not oppose immigration, they simply want a proper fence put up. If anyone denies that illegal immigration is a problem, they are a fool. Human trafficking makes it a humanitarian disaster, litter and pollution left by immigrants is outrageous, all forms of contraband run back and forth across the border bolstering organized crime in both countries, and yes, it is bad for the economy. I see no reason why a group peacefully reporting illegals to the BP should be labelled as racist.
