Rice Hints At Possible War With Iran?
I just caught a clip of Condi Rice on PBS News Hour and she basically said that all negotiations have been attempted and now it's up to the international community to do what it needs to do. It just sounded to me as if she was saying, "We've done all we can, Iran doesn't want to comply, so we're about to invade them."

It was the same way leading up to the war in Iraq.

Is this possible? Will the U.S. invade Iran as this foul Administration's "October Surprise?"

p.s. Bob Woodward now being interviewed...State of Denial!!

3. If I were a Bush advisor, I would say go to war AFTER the elections
Not BEFORE.

You need a shield of congressional allies to keep Congress behind you.

6. That has yet to be seen.

The polls show the race is still very close nationwide as of this post:

www.electoral-vote.com

As long as it is close, I would say it is best to try to disenfranchise voters to keep tight races generally falling toward the Republican side. Also, gas prices are moving in favor of Republicans at present. Of course, I'm speaking as a Rovian advisor. I'm not seriously advocating these tactics as my own.

before Nov, based on what I've been reading.

11. I'm weary of putting a date on the war at this point, but...
I believe if Bush gives final orders to prepare for war, the high ranking officers in the general staff will resign in protest. I know this, and unfortunately, Bush knows this as well, so the question for him is to develop a ploy to trick them into supporting action against Iran.

The only way he could get the military hierarchy to fall in line would be to portray the US as the one that was attacked by Iran. No general and no officer would refuse to fight if he felt his own men were being attacked.

8. The Problem, Sir, With Attacking Iran As An Election Ploy
Is that within hours of the first bomb dropped, the Shias of Itaq, including the puppet government we have installed, will rise as one against the U.S. soldiery there. It will not be a matter of increased snipings and bombings; it will be mass mobbings, and breaking them will be as damaging as the incidents in which they over-run isolated men. It would be a political disaster of the worst magnitude.

9. I agree, that any rational person would withold invading Iran...however
that has not stopped this crew in the past.
I put nothing past them at all. They've proven that prudence and wisdom are rarer than hen's teeth, where neocons are concerned.

Also, I watch where the hips of the player are pointed, not where he's looking. (football reference). The hips now are pointed to the Eisenhower reaching the gulf well within a window before the elections, for one thing.

They intend to invade Iran. I'm convinced. The timing is arguable, but I do think that is the intent.

10. It Is Not Important, Sir
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 06:39 PM by The Magistrate
Whether these people understand the consequences, and wish to avoid them. What is important is that these will be the consequences, and that they will be disasterous politically.

Doubtless they do wish to attack Iran, and may do so after the election, whatever its outcome.

It is an action they will definitely come to regret, within days.

18. They don't seem to experience regret
They haven't experienced regret over Iraq.
They haven't experienced regret over Katrina.
They haven't experienced regret over Enron.
They really aren't affected by any of this in a negative way at all.
So far, it's all been good to them,
they just keep getting richer and more powerful.

17. "hints". . . .HINTS?!
They have been projecting the start of this war for a long time. I believe there are already operatives in the field. . The language coming out of this bloodsucking beast is exactly the same as it was during the lead up to the invasion of Iraq.

And from our side:
"They wouldn't be so stupid."....
"There isn't enough army to do it with"...
"It's just saber-rattling to get them to comply"...

Sound familiar?
