a word to the wise. The most dangerous days are upon us.
Rove/cheney/et al are not idiots. If they were, they would never have done so much damage to our country, while enriching their corporate friends and sponsors. They see the same polls that we do. They read the same articles in print and they see the changing atmosphere everywhere, even (surprisingly, but limited) Faux. They see the writing on the walls.

NEver before have they apologized for their errors and screw-ups. Not once have they beat their chest and said, mea culpa. Never have they admitted a mistake, instead saying, things could have been done better.

We may think that netroots, LTTEs, letter writing and helping candidates is enough; let me be the second or third to tell you - IT IS NOT!

A cornered, injured animal is the most dangerous opponent. Unpredictable, unrepentant, and unthrottled by a normal sense of decency. That is what we face over the next 30+ days. We have to do three things simultaneously, almost counter-intuitive and not easily accomplished.
First, we must continue the growing attacks we are making on their biggest failures.
Second, we must tread incredibly carefully, for the slightest mistake will be blown up larger and brighter than the Hindenburg.
Third, we have to be prepared for whatever multipart attack Rove has cooked up. It wo't be one or even two things. It will be a broad attack on several levels. There will be disclosures against individuals, stuff they have saved for the last moment.

Eternal vigilence - that is the only way we win.

3. indeed, and not just the next 30 days
Dems getting a majority in Congress won't make them back down... I'm sure they have plans up their collective sleeves to deal with that possibility as well

4. The only way you're wrong is if they've decided to give up.
Seems just a bit unlikely to me.

5. if they give up, some are looking at jail terms. They know that.
they FEAR that. Bush will run out of ink trying to sign pardons for the next two years.

I not kidding, they'll never give up. They'd rather take down their entire party then give up.

When, in his best basketball moments, he sunk breathtaking points
from everywhere like a superhuman, we just need that, from everyone.

9. Got that right
This is the time of joyful warrioring, the time when the tide of the battle is in our favor, and victory seems to be a real possibility. These bloodthirsty greedheads, however, aren't going to go easily or quietly, and the endgame of the next four weeks before the election is going to be as important as any phase that's gone before. They're going to resort to every dirty trick in the book, every mean little stunt at their disposal, so as to snatch victory out of our hands, even as it appears within our grasp.

And even when their winning is no longer possible, they'll do everything in their power to make the fruits of our labors taste like ashes and dust. Don't be surprised by the depths they'll plumb to ruin everything they can in the time in power they have left. The only prospect a lot of them have in the wake of their defeat is a long prison sentence, and before that eventuality overtakes them, they'll spoil everything their greedy mitts can touch.

Stay on target.

15. ashes and dust of victory will still taste pretty damned good
after all, there is always the sweet taste of clean water, the wonderful smell of clean air, and the knowledge that perhaps, with all of our efforts, we can start to clean and care for our planent. Perhaps, we can clean up politics and fix so many election problems. Perhaps, we can fix the structural problems in our economy.

We are buying F-22s and C-160s (or whatever) and our troops go without armor. WE SPEND MORE ON STAR WARS than we do on food water body armor and other protections in IraqNam.

Worse yet, precisely what Gen/ Pres Ike warned us of has taken place. The military industrial complex bought out controling shares of the media. They since have started a propaganda war on the nation, demanding $ $ $ $ $ $ to "safeguard us". Bullshit.

leaving IraqNam would create more goodwill and trust than any other step. Starting talks with Palestine would further that sense 100%. Two simple steps, but utterly inconceivable to the neoConmen currently ruining our nation.

17. We should be ready
Victory will eventually be sweet, but it will be the within the GOP's modus operandi to shit in their own nest if that's all they have left to do. We may have a lot of cleaning up to do immediately afterwards, and we'll have to contend with ongoing Republican whining as soon as they're back in the minority. It won't be easy, but it will be necessary if we're to be proud of our country again. Because right now, the Republicans are doing their level best to bring shame on every American.

10. I've been thinking exactly the same,
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 06:20 PM by notsodumbhillbilly
that a dangerous animal or violent criminal is at its most dangerous when cornered. I have no doubt whatever that the cabal will do something horribly drastic, comparable to the 9/11 attacks or worse than the Iraq invasion, between now and the first week in November. If(!) martial law is implemented along with whatever they do, there will be no elections in November.

11. With Bush, I have always thought that the lower his numbers sunk,
the more dangerous he would become. That applies to all of them. This maybe brewing to be the perfect storm, but things like the sex scandal can swing both ways. Like a chess game, the Dems should anticipate different moves and think ahead. Be prepared!

12. Battle of the bulge
I think you might be right on this.

For some reason thoughts of Hitlers last gasp came to mind when reading your post.

Maybe we should look at it like Ike did-They have to come out of their holes to attack.Thats when we stomp their asses.

13. It's a two sided coin this desperation.
Could we be any more desperate? if the Rovian machine pulls anything before the mid terms
this crowd will react. Progressives, Democrats in general are like an over tight spring right now.
It's like we have had to undergo water torture for so long and now a chance to strike back
is upon us. This is no naive 2004 crowd. The stakes are known to just about everyone so
let them try to pull something. Just try.

dastardly plan they may have as a fall back, and I don't think the military is going to go along with it, they are totally fed up with AWOL, Rummy and the chickenhawk neocons.

Instead of bin Laden prepared to attack America it is Rove and the GOP and we need to do a bit more than they did about their memo..We are forwarned and should therefor be forarmed...
