Irony defined in the latest NRA issue involving "The Internets"
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 03:44 PM by noahmijo
my freeper dad is an NRA member, so every now and then I read the latest drivel from that little shit Wayne LaPierre to see what the latest fear of our guns being taken away is stemming from and why you need to renew or start an NRA membershp right now.

First off lemme say that this organization has done JACK SHIT for civil liberties since its Republican take-over (believe it or not there was a time when they focused more on educating about gun safety and laws than politics)

I don't and will never understand why people continue to donate to this band of rubes who laugh all the way to the bank after duping middle America out of their hard earned cash but anyways to the point.

In this issue of bullshit LaPierre talks about how we must be ever vigilant as someday certain civil liberties groups will attempt to censor the internet from getting facts about guns and gun violence.

You see according to LaPierre we are blessed with this wonderful internet invention and by GOD!! by JESUS!!! we must keep it free.

Well recall the 2000 election. Who was Al Gore's largest attacker other than Karl Rove?

That would be the NRA. Remember Al was out to steal my guns, your guns, and possibly my dog's guns too.

The NRA smeared AL left and right and largely was the reason he lost his home state.

So basically here we have LaPierre praising a creation largely made possible in America by a man whom his organization spent full time trying to destroy.

According to Vincent Cerf, a senior vice president with MCI Worldcom who's been called the Father of the Internet, "The Internet would not be where it is in the United States without the strong support given to it and related research areas by the Vice President in his current role and in his earlier role as Senator."
http://www.perkel.com/politics/gore/internet.htm
Inventing the Internet. Did Al Gore Invent the Internet?

One of the biggest reasons I was a big Gore supporter was my interest (and now career) in information technology and how Gore was one of the few suits out there who understood the incoming wave and impact of the digital and dot-com era.

Ultimately LaPierre all I have to say to you is you are a fucking cowardly lying sniveling piece of shit and I don't care if you are about 40 years my senior, you're a punk, you spout all this dribble about gun safety and you never served a day in your life for this country, you don't even know violence outside of the ass kickings you got in high school for being the annoying tough talking little rich kid.

And these are the kind of pukes who tell the poor "Get a job!"

It'll be a great day when people like LaPierre are forced to flip burgers and mop floors with no benefits and below poverty wages.

PS Did you all know that even President Bush (Senior) resigned from the NRA in protest after punkass Pierre called Federal Law Enforcement officials "Jack-Booted Thugs"?

1. Charlton Heston said Al Gore should be lynched
Heston Suggests `Lynching' As Appropriate Response to Al Gore's Gun Policy

WASHINGTON - October 20 -"Now, (Al Gore is) saying 'I'm with you guys on guns.' In any other time or place you'd be looking for a lynching mob." The crowd responded with "let's do it" and "I've got a rope." -- The Grand Rapids Press, October 17, 2000 quoting NRA president Charlton Heston and describing audience reaction.

Handgun Control released a new report today, "The Gun Lobby and Race: Thinly-Veiled Bigotry," revealing the extremist message of the gun lobby. The report shows a clear pattern of appealing to violence, racism and bigotry through National Rifle Association (NRA) official speeches and literature. Just this week NRA president Charlton Heston used words tinged with racist overtones. Despite often bragging of his presence at the 1963 March on Washington with Martin Luther King, thinly veiled hateful and racist arguments have been a staple of his public appearances for several years. In a 1997 speech titled "Fighting the Culture War in America," Heston provided some insight into the NRA's apparent message:

"Mainstream America is counting on you to draw your sword and fight for them. These people have precious little time to and resources to battle misguided Cinderella attitudes, the fringe propaganda of the homosexual coalition, the feminists who preach that it is a divine duty for woman to hate men, blacks who raise a militant fist with one hand while they seek preference with the other..."

Heston's words were even quoted on former Ku Klux Klan Wizard David Duke's Web site.

2. The NRA is just another branch of the Republican party just like FAUX News
Nothing more, nothing less. People that support the NRA, thinking they exist to "protect gun rights" are complete idiots. They don't stand up for gun owners any more than Exxon or the Heritage foundation do.

4. That was Neil Knox, not LaPierre, IIRC...
PS Did you all know that even President Bush (Senior) resigned from the NRA in protest after punkass Pierre called Federal Law Enforcement officials "Jack-Booted Thugs"?

and Knox got fired over that. (Knox passed away a couple years ago, BTW; cancer, I think.) The context was the BATFE/FBI blunders at Waco and Ruby Ridge, but Knox's statement was way, way over the top.

The NRA smeared AL left and right and largely was the reason he lost his home state.

That was the largely fault of bad Gore advisers who didn't know jack squat about the gun issue, not the NRA. Gore's message to gun owners in 2000 (which his campaign broadcast loud and clear) was

(1) I support hunting.

(2) I support the ownership of hunting style guns.

(3) Owners of nonhunting style guns are a lunatic fringe.

(4) I will fight to ban modern-looking civilian long guns and handguns holding over 10 rounds.

The problem being, of course, that fully 80% of American gun owners are nonhunters, and of those who do hunt, many also own nonhunting style guns the prohibitionist lobby wants to ban.

Gore's advisors fell for the "assault weapon" bait-and-switch hook, line, and sinker, and THAT helped cost him Tennessee, West Virginia, and the election.
