The election pulse on facebook.com, or; the kids are allright
Here's something I think we can all take heart in. As you may or may not know, facebook.com is a very, very large social networking site which started as a way for college students to stay in touch with their friends and meet new people. It has also always been a means of expressing ones' self, and facebook has added more and more ways to do this. This year, they have included ways to register your support for a particular candidate or issue, and facebook is keeping track of the results. While the site has recently expanded to include people who are not students, the vast majority of facebook users are still in school. So, keep in mind that the following results of facebook political opinion registrations reflect mostly the under 24 demographic. So, without further adieu, here are today's standings...

Senate- MN
1. Amy Klobuchar (DEM)
62.35%
2. Mark Kennedy (REP)
33.4%

Senate- NJ
1. Bob Menendez (DEM)
56.3%
2. Tom Kean (REP)
43.7%

Senate - MT
1. Jon Tester (DEM)
82.06%
2. Conrad Burns (REP)
15.97%

Senate - OH
1. Sherrod Brown (DEM)
67.91%
2. Mike Dewine (REP)
32.09%

Senate - PA
1. Bob Casey (DEM)
58.12%
2. Rick Santorum (REP)
37.76%

Senate - VA
1. James Webb Jr (DEM)
56.12%
2. George Allen (REP)
42.79%

Senate - TN
1. Harold Ford Jr. (DEM)
70.92%
2. Robert Corker Jr. (REP)
28.49%

Governor - AR
1. Mike Beebe (DEM)
52.91%
2. Asa Hutchinson (REP)
41.76%

Governor - MA
1. Deval Patrick (DEM)
74.92%
2. Kerry Healey (REP)
14.05%

Governor - CO
1. Bill Ritter (DEM)
66.16%
2. Bob Beauprez (REP)
29.08%

And, for my own Congressional district (CO-5):
1. Jay Fawcett (DEM)
57.21%
2. Douglas Lamborn (REP)
42.79%

And the CO-7, one of the most highly contested races in the country:
1. Ed Perlmutter (DEM)
60.04%
2. Rick O'Donnell (REP)
34.04%

So, as you can see, the youth of this country, or at least those who are politically aware, are leaning strongly Democratic. So, if you know a young person, make sure you *get them to vote*, even if you don't know who they'll vote for (because they'll probably vote for a Democrat). Also, just you wait a few years... the Gen Yers will get this country back on track for good (IMHO ;) ). Keep up the good work, fellow Democrats!

2. Here's some bad news for MN governor:
1. Tim Pawlenty (REP)
48.55%
2. Mike Hatch (DEM)
42.13%
3. Peter Hutchinson (IP)
6.19%
4. Ken Pentel (GRE)
2.92%
5. Leslie Davis (IND)
0.21%

Why would college students support Pawlenty????

3. Didn't see that one
I was looking on "featured races" or whatever, and that one wasn't on there. I only went looking for Virginia and then the races in my state/district. I heard Hatch was ahead in the polls overall though, is that correct?

4. Last I checked, they both were tied at 43%.
I'm going to check around and find the latest numbers.

5. I read or saw somewhere
where the 18-25 demographic was giving the Dems a 17 point boost over the Republicans. Almost makes you think this year will be a shoe-in. But with Bushboy in office you never know.
