01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

I found this as a response in an article at:

3. Perfect......
>>If gay marriage is legalized, God will send deadly hurricanes and will allow more US soldiers to die in Iraq.

The Lord may also send a plague of talentless whores to destroy our culture and put morons in charge of our government to destroy our institutions.

In other words, no difference.<<

Yes Canada has fallen to doom since they allowed gay marriages.

6. Moral piety...
Pretty good humor, but we should take the gay issue more seriously. It takes extreme measures (ie the presentation of logic) to persuade pious fundamentalists that their interpretation of scripture is debatable. Here's my basic angle:

Jesus reduced "all the law" to 2 things, Love one another, and Love God. Even the Love of God can be considered another commandment to Love one another. The 10 Commandments are more a prescription for how we deal with one another than a relationship with the diety. Saying "God Damn it" is not a disobeyance of a Commandment. Rather, 'taking' belief in God or 'God's name', but 'in vain' breaking other commandments (lying, theft, lust, envy, barbarism), is disobeyance of the Commandment "Thou shalt not take the lord's name in vain". The real concern is human deceit.

So, in this sense, it's not homosexuality that's the sin. The sin is more related to how any form of sexuality becomes a temptation that can lead to abuse, (whether that temptation is regarded as sinful or whatever). The real sin is the 'flaunting of sexuality'. This argument is more palatable the the nit wit christian, and important to make if they really want to live up to their own pretentions of moral piety.

7. hanging around tall people will make you tall.
This is entirely false.

When I met my partner I was 5'6" tall, she was 5'2" tall. 9 years later she is still 5' 2" tall, and I'm still 5' 6" tall...

HOWEVER - I wear glasses and wore glasses when I met my partner. She did not wear glasses at that time, but now she does. THEREFORE - hanging around with people who wear glasses will eventually cause YOU to wear glasses.

9. !
Musgrave declared that gay marriage "is the most important issue that we face today."

Wow. More important than poverty, world hunger, global warming, war, violent crime, unemployment, racism, etc?

Her priorities are seriously out of whack.

10. My marriage fell apart without any help from gay unions
And all the "family values" mooks--didn't their marriages end when they decided to swatch one wife for another?
