Someone explain the Casey-Santorum thing to me.
As I understand it, Casey is off the ballot, yet he's favored to win? Am I misreading something? Is he suppose to win as a write-in?

Santorum momentum 'dead in the water'; Casey leads by 12 points

A new poll on the senatorial race in Pennsylvania released today by Quinnipiac University shows challenger Bob Casey Jr. leading incumbent Senator Rick Santorum (R) by a margin of 12 points. This is an increase over a six point lead Casey had last month.

Four percent of voters indicated they support Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli, who has now been ordered dropped from the ballot due to an insufficient number of valid signatures on his nominating petitions. Five percent of voters are undecided.

"Sen. Rick Santorum's comeback momentum has been stopped dead in the water. Santorum's attack ads against Casey have failed to spark voters' support, and 50 percent of voters say the Senator does not deserve re-election," said Clay F. Richards in a statement released with the poll and obtained by RAW STORY.

While Santorum enjoys the support of over three-quarters of Republicans (77%), his opponent, son of a popular former governor, has the support of eighty-five percent of Democrats. Seventeen percent of voters say they still might change their minds before the elections.

1. No, Casey is very much on the ballot
It's the Green Party candidate (who was mostly funded by the rethugs) who is off the ballot, for not gathering enough valid signatures.

5. Oh, wonderful. I misread the damn thing.
Sorry for the trouble. I'm still rattled because I was groped by a right-winger today. I'm not kidding. I went to a local hardware store and this decrepit white man was sliding his feet as he walked down the aisle toward me. I gave him ample room to get around me because he looked like he might have some kind of physical issue. Well, instead of taking the room I gave him, the son of a bitch leaned toward me, cupped his fucking hand around my cheek before sliding onward. Of course, I didn't take it quietly. The only thing I forgot to call him was a Republican. His response was despicable. Like he knew what he had done, but he also knew he was going to get away with it because of his feeble appearance. I walked to the front counter still pushing my cart, shaken, told the clerk and in the middle of the sale just said, "The hell with it. If you're going to have customers like that around here, I don't want to be here anymore."

So I went home and told my husband and my husband says, "Baby, you still got it."

3. Casey is the Democrat and very much on the ballot...
Romanelli is the Green and, despite big $$$ support from Santorum supporters, could not get enough HONEST signatures to be on the ballot.

4. Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli, who has now been ordered dropped"
"from the ballot." Casey has this virtually locked up.

Greens are bummed out that they won't be able to help Santorum win, but they are setting their sights on helping Lieberman in Connecticut.

6. What the hell is wrong with these Greens?
I'm assuming they're not like that everywhere in the U.S.?

7. They're not actually 'Greens' as we think of 'Greens'.
The Rethuglicans have been funding the Green party candidate as a way to divert votes away from Casey.

I have often wondered, frankly, why more campaigns didn't do this. Here in VA, you can vote in either primary regardless of your party affiliation. Doesn't that just sound ripe for fraud? If, given the opportunity, I would vote for the absolutely weakest Rethuglican candidate in an effort to get him/her on the bill, knowing full well the Democratic candidate would win.

I think the rethugs, because of course, they have no moral compass at all, have finally realized that this is a viable way to get their candidates elected.

I think it is despicable.
