Which Democratic politicians are running the best 06 campaigns
in your opinion? There have been many threads about who ISN'T running a good campaign, I'd like to hear about who IS running a good campaign.

I'd nominate Tester (D) of MT, who is spanking Burns (R) in about every way he can. Tester has had quick, accurate reponses to Burns' mud too. Check out this recent article that Dailykos posted.

GOP: Tester soft on sex predators

HELENA - The Montana Republican Party on Thursday accused Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jon Tester of failing to protect children from sexual predators by opposing a 2001 bill to require library computers to block access to pornography.

In response, Tester spokesman Matt McKenna said the Democrat voted against the bill because the then-state librarian testified against the bill and “made it very clear to the Legislature that these controls were already in place all across the state and that this bill was unnecessary.”

“Jon Tester believes in less government regulation, not more, and he believes in local control,” McKenna said. The roll-call vote shows that Tester and 36 other senators - including 18 Republicans - voted on Feb. 7, 2001, to kill SB139, while 12 senators - all Republicans - favored keeping the bill alive.

Asked whether Republican senators who voted with Tester also had failed to protect children from sexual predators, Chuck Denowh, executive director of the state Republican Party, said, “From our perspective, this is just about Jon Tester.”

1. I nominate Sherrod Brown
He's been running a lean, focused campaign on the issues he knows best - jobs and health care. He doesn't focus as much on wedge issues, he sticks to the issues where Dem are superior on policy and that matter to voters. He doesn't use gimmicks and he and his wife, Connie Schultz work really hard, campaigning heavily in GOP strongholds.

Mike DeWine has been using the heavy artillery on him, running ads talking about voting for taxes and being weak on terrorism, while pushing DeWine's phony moderate voting record. Bush and Rove are in the state at least every month, raising money. In spite of all that, Sherrod has increased his lead against DeWine. Increased it.

I am very, very proud of him.

2. And Brown is pretty progressive too
which is a bit tougher to sell in Ohio than, say, Massachusettes.
Thanks for responding! I was beginning to think DUers didn't have anything nice to say about our 06 candidates.
