Woman dragged to death in Colorado
Residents of a suburban Denver neighborhood are struggling to come to grips with the gruesome discovery of a woman's body that had been dragged along a paved road through a pastoral subdivision, leaving a long trail of blood and questions.

1. Unbelievable.
A sick and disgusting act. I shudder at the utter horror this women must have gone through. I hope they catch the person who did it.

4. Dragged as in deliberately or accidentally?
Was it the result of her being struck (which is bad enough), or is there reason to believe that there was criminal intent?

5. The body had an orange, webbed tow-strap tied around the neck
(I read this yesterday), so I doubt it was an accident.

7. Shades of Jasper, Texas
The woman was alive when tied to the vehicle, and it was not a pleasant death.

10. Yeah, cuz hispanics are always committing hate crimes against
"gringos". nice try, but if anything.. you've got it backwards.

if the white america knows about anything, it's how to intimidate non-white americans.

23. well, a Hispanic was charged
the article doesn't make mention of any evidence against him, other than the fact that there was a picture of him nearby.

15. Didja get a load of what the local resident had to say?
"We don't want to attract any more attention that what we're already getting. This is our little piece of heaven," she said.

A human is tortured to death right on her street, and all she can think of is herself and her little homestead. Unbelievable.

18. UPDATE: Man Under Arrest in Colo. Dragging Death
Edited on Wed Sep-20-06 02:54 PM by rocknation
Associated Press -- CASTLE ROCK, Colo. -- A man pictured in a photo found at the crime scene was arrested in the death of a woman whose body was found after she was dragged behind a vehicle for at least a mile, authorities said Wednesday.

Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, was arrested Tuesday night on a charge of first-degree murder and was being held without bail in the Douglas County jail, Sheriff Dave Weaver said.

....He said the woman had not yet been identified...Her face was unrecognizable and an orange tow rope was found around her neck...

This sounds more like a crime of passion than a lynching like the dragging death in Texas. I guess the town's "little piece of heaven" status is safe.

:(

20. If that's "passion" I don't want any
It may be a crime of domestic violence but to call it a "crime of passion" grossly understates the problem.

Not to rag on you, RN, I'm just horrified by this and I know that's what it's called but that doesn't make it the right thing to call it. Call this my knee-jerk PC reaction (really want to put a smilie here but just can't do it :( ) but having been on the receiving end of what some call "passion" leaves me a bit raw over shit like this.

Hey, hate is hate - you could say that people feel it with a passion. Like lynch mobs.

And the guy who did this.
