What the hell is Galloway thinking? Slipped LSD by neocons? WTF?
I loved Galloway's courage in sticking it to Norm Coleman and standing up against the neocon/neofascists, but he's seriously undercutting his positions by appearing on that British version of Big Brother. Has he been slipped a psychotic drug or something? Whatever it is...he's now (apparently) under the impression that it would be a good thing to appear in a red leotard with the transvestite singer of Dead Alive doing some weird robotic dance skit. And, what does it say about his judgment to be televised lapping up milk like a cat on national TV.

I understand that some justification could be that he's "selling his soul" and being degraded publicly to get his message out against the war, but who's going to take that message seriously now? It would be like Doug Henning in a rainbow leotard talking about geopolitics...

I like the guy...I'm just concerned. Lord knows what kind of mind-numbing bullshit M15 may be slipping him.

I'm seriously concerned. This recent crazy TV stuff just seems so out of character.

4. Maybe he's just having fun...
...if Colin Powell can perform Kabuke theatre and George HW Bush can get fall down drunk and puke on the Japanese PM, and Gee-Dubya can act like a cowboy...

Hell, Dubya gets on TV playing dress up all the time. What's up with that? Isn't he concerned about his credibility?

11. And don't forget Giuliani in drag, year after year
I mean once might have been funny, but when he repeatedly did it, some people began to wonder.

Or Bush crawling around the WH looking for WMDs and then laughing about not finding them. I think that's a little more disturbing, considering how many people died as a result of his insisting they existed!

I haven't seen the Galloway video, but no matter how bad it is, has anyone died yet as a result of his having fun with himself?

However, having said that, he should have known that while it's okay for Republicans and rightwingers to do these things, it's never okay for their opponents. Clinton being a prime example of that. Imo, he should not have done it for that reason alone.

16. That is such a bizarre, but amusing photo. The "off the shoulders" look.
So friggin' bizarre...

I'm amused, but also concerned that he will try to re-emerge in the political sphere in late 2006 or 2008. The last thing we need is for Galloway to be making a forceful anti-Bush message on TV, while the network does a split-screen with his cat act or this weird leotard thing.

8. It's a combination of his ego and some patronising idea he has
that the "yoof" will soomehow start listening to a politician if he goes on a stupid reality-show.

Of course, maybe he could have gotten people to listen to him if he'd actually turned up to a debate beyond last July. Or for that matter, had a voting record which currently stands at a shameful 14%.

38. My 1000th post! - Somebody on with Chris Moyles on Radio 1
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 07:00 AM by tenshi816
this morning (didn't catch his name) said Galloway's voting record was even worse than 14% - 3% since last July.

Moyles was inviting people - especially younger listeners - to text in whether they loved or hated GG. The last I heard, after several thousand votes, the result was 91% "hate", but I don't know what the final tally was. Since one of George's stated reasons for going into the Big Brother house was to connect with younger voters outside the house, it probably would have been a good idea if he weren't so vicious and patronising to the young people inside the house.

10. You can read his reasons at the Respect party website
http://www.respectcoalition.org/index.php?sec=1

I think some of the party thought he was foolish to do it, but a lot have rallied behind him, in public at least. Galloway has a large ego, there's no doubt, and he may have thought he could dominate the conversation in the house; but if so, he reckoned without the combined egos of other 'celebrities', and the editorial guidelines on TV, which would forbid them broadcasting political messages from him without someone to put an opposing view - and the editors would also probably take the view that his politics would be more boring to watch, to the typical Big Brother viewer, than gossip and groping from the other 'celebrities'.

17. The silly stuff aside, he's come across as a git several times
(yes I'm still putting myself through it, although it's all but ceased to be entertainment what with the racial stuff, Barrymore breaking down every day, Rodman being a sex-pest, etc)

There was his contribution to the big racist argument (too complex and tedious to go into), the betrayal of Rula and the attempted cover-up (I know that sounds dramatic, but hey), the "I'm going to get revenge on Chantelle and Preston outside the house" (not a direct quote) just because he wasn't allowed to nominate and the "we'll give the police some money in secret and lets have no more said about" approach to Pete's fur coat. Worst in my eyes was his not intervening in any shape or form when Pete launched a vicious, at times racist, misogynistic and anti-American attack on Traci ("I called you a bitch because it's a word black people understand." - my memory of what he said). Although he didn't confront Pete, the only other person in the room - Preston - at least had the state of mind to leave.

The only political thing I've seen broadcast was when Rula asked Galloway whether the Iraqi's hated Saddam and he said "of course not", his political opponents did, granted, but the "ordinary Iraqi" had no problem with him. On day 2 or 3 he realised that nobody gave a rats arse about what he thought, or what stories he could tell and so he's just been content gossiping about his fellow housemates.

I can't believe I've just written two paragraphs about Big bloody Brother. It's not even good car-crash TV as I said above.

and not M15, don't you? In any event, George Galloway isn't considered important enough over here for MI5 to bother slipping anything to him - they wouldn't need to bother, as George is perfectly capable of shooting himself in the foot without help from anyone else.

Edited for typo.

39. I believe Gore performed the skit shortly after pulling out of the 2004
race for president. But the fact that he participated in such an undignified act has rendered him unfit to serve as president.

Our American friends need to understand that while Galloway holds many correct views on thr war and general social issues, at heart he is a self-publicising, vain, Narcissistic, egotistical, greedy bully. And his judgement/integrity/motivations is seriously open to question. (cf meeting with Saddam and sons)
