NOT giving the asshat a rockstar OVATION when he staggers to the podium?

Is that too much to ask?

1. Didn't the Democrats not clap or stand up one year? Last year maybe?
Didn't they boo a couple of times when the Patriot Act was mentioned?

it was apparently forgotten by some people, and if they do it again this year it will be forgotten again.

edit: the booing I recall was about Social Security.

5. Damn you all to HELL for reminding me that they did something GOOD!!
It's hard to irrationally HATE someone when you remember the times they stood up for you. So CUT that the hell OUT!!

9. My apologies if I misinterpreted all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

That's the danger of doing the the drama queen.

And I've said it before. We need to strike an intelligent balance between tough criticism for legitimate reasons and facilitating the Radical RW meme that our values are weak and irrelevant.

I know that's not nearly as easy as throwing around a lot of smear, but the worthwhile things are never easy.

8. the call to have the dems walk out has a major flaw
it rests on a premise that simply isn't true: that the dems don't understand the situation, and are not fighting Bush.

That's simply not so, there are clear examples of the dems opposing Bush, and the article doesn't acknowledge this whatsoever.

That article can't influence the dems at all. The dems know that even if they took this major risk it wouldn't change the attitude of the author at all. They know it would be soon forgotten. They're not stupid, they know this is what would happen.
