Kansas gov. wants Natl. Guard equipment back from Iraq

Guard gear on Sebelius agenda with Bush

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will fly on President Bush’s helicopter Monday, when she hopes to bring up the return of Kansas military equipment.

“I might get to bend his ear on a few topics,” she said at a news briefing Friday.

In a Dec. 30 letter to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Sebelius urged the return of Kansas National Guard equipment shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan.

“The Guard was critical to responding to recent blizzards and floods in Kansas, yet its ability to respond to similar situations is being diminished by a lack of equipment,” she wrote.

She said Rumsfeld had not responded.

Sebelius will travel with the president from Topeka to Manhattan, where Bush will deliver a Landon Lecture at Kansas State University.

she may be sorry if the equipment comes back as it most likely will be contaimanated by DU

I'm smiling at the gov. thinking she could bend smirk's ear in her direction and get results. she'll probably get a rash from being in the same plane with him.

1. We need our California NG members and equipment back too
otherwise we're relying on this arthritic, diabetic old fart with a "Red Cross Disaster Services Vest" when the "Big One" hits and California slides up the Coast to Seattle.

I wouldn't rely on me for a National Guard level or effort. :hi:

2. I doubt you will get much back. that other gov. tired it and only a small

came back because the rest was broken or worn out. and the stuff that came back was very used and needed attention. and then didn't know yet if it was contaminated with DU poisoning.

(I forget which gov. it was)

5. H1Ac above 8 - and arthritic
Yeah - the good people of California will have to rely on us old farts with the little Red Cross Vests and Salvation Army ball caps.

6. But she will get Bush** cooties
and there is nothing on this earth worse than that!

I agree, she is wonderful. I hope she gives him hell with that pretty smile of hers. He won't even know what hit him.

Those of us standing on the sidelines with our signs will take care of the mean part.

8. I will.
I am a little afraid I won't make it but I am going to give it my best shot. I will sleep at the barn tonight so I can sleep until 5, otherwise I don't know if I would be able to make myself get up and do my chores. LOL, I am getting lazy in my old age. I may not get my sign done on time but I will be there standing even if I don't.

He will be flying right over my farm but I don't have time to make another sign for the roof of the barn, the last said *Re-defeat Bush* can't use that again.

4. She should demand NEW equipment
Edited on Sun Jan-22-06 01:01 PM by formercia
What's left in Iraq and Afghanistan isn't worth bringing back for the most part. The contamination from all sources plus the extreme wear from being used in a desert or semi-arid environment makes vehicles and other mobile equipment pretty much a total loss. The Guard from all units should get top of the line, new equipment to replace the old. If you figure the cost of shipping it home plus that to refurbish and decontaminate it to spec, it would be cheaper to buy new.

10. I had the same thought
then there will be nobody to oppose the final and complete takeover of the Nation.
