Waco, TX--Protesting * at Baylor law school lecture
From the Friends of Peace mailing list:

Mark and I did attend the Baylor Law School lecture by Paul Clement, solicitor general on Tuesday. Very austere group and solemn ambience there. And it seemed totally isolated from issues of war and peace. Mr. Clement almost TOTALLY avoided the key cases--Padilla, Hamdi and Hamdan. We submitted questions for the QandA in writing but of course they never reached Mr. Clement. All questions were softball only. But I made contact with a law student and maybe exposed him to another way of thinking--one had a sense of totally uniform probush thinking there. Mark and I were near the front. At the end I stood up and removed my jacket. On my back was a very boldly printed "IMPEACH BUSH" bumper sticker. I think many many attendees saw it, and I caught the eyes of many shocked baylor law students. So I think in that setting, an alternative thought process was displayed in a way that surprised the group. and we even rec'd one positive comment from a baylor ex. (by the way, 3 cops at the entrance so we probably could not have gotten in displaying a propeace message or otherwise utilizing the 1st amendment).
