The key to winning Florida's state races: expose the graft:
Edited on Sun Sep-03-06 03:08 PM by The Backlash Cometh
In today's Orlando Sentinel, there's a great article that provides a road map to exposing the Republican's Achille's heel. It talks about campaign donations coming from businesses across the state. Take it from someone who has looked, there is so much graft in Florida that the only thing that will stop you from digging it up, is that you're bound to trip over a few old guard Democrats. So it's going to take cojones, but start looking at the campaign donation lists and start with anyone involved with real estate, including law firms.

Here's the article:

Building on a GOP takeover of the Legislature a decade ago and the election of Gov. Jeb Bush two years later, the Republican Party of Florida has turned control of state government into a torrent of campaign cash.

During that nine-year-period, the state GOP has raised a total of $172.7 million, according to an Orlando Sentinel analysis of the money raised by both parties since 1997. That compares with $103 million by the Democrats.

The GOP has used this fundraising edge to maintain domination of the Legislature -- by a current 8535 margin in the House and 26-14 in the Senate -- and enable Bush to become the state's first two-term Republican governor. More significantly, Democrats worry, the Republicans' overwhelming financial advantage puts the GOP in a strong position to replace Bush next year with either Charlie Crist or Tom Gallagher.

The GOP money comes not just from traditional sources, such as affluent, right-leaning individuals, but also from almost every major business in the state. The donor list includes Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos, Miami Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga and megadeveloper Gary Morse of The Villages, as well as Florida Power & Light, BellSouth and Publix.

. . .

District 24: Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Titusville, Winter Springs and Winter Park
Incumbent: Tom Feeney, Republican
Outlook: Admittedly, this isn’t South Florida. But I included it anyway because it’s nearby, and it could be the nastiest House race in the entire country. Tom Feeney should win handily, no matter who wins the democratic primary. That primary will test whether old-school political machines or Internet grassroots wins the day. Andy Michaud is a long-time local Democrat with deep roots in the community. Clint Curtis is a hero to many liberals, especially those concerned with electoral fraud. In 2000, Curtis, a former Republican, maintains that he was approached by Feeney while he worked as a computer programmer. Feeney, in collusion with Jeb Bush, demanded a prototype program that could be used to rig election machines. Curtis has since taken out an affidavit and passed a lie-detector test to this effect. If he wins the primary against Michaud, the Feeney vs. Curtis election will be war.. . .
