GREAT NEWS for Daily Show/Colbert Report fans w/o Cable TV!!!
Hey all you non-cable household DUers, who still like to see The Daily Show or Colbert Report every so often (when everyone here is raving how good it is tonight) YOU JUST GOT CABLE!

Well, not really, but this (currently free) "over the Internet" Broadband TV service I found during the World Cup final (called TVU) just added a Comedy Central Channel!!! I think it's the West Coast feed, so you'll still be a few hours behind some of us, but still it's better than waiting until someone uploads it to YouTube or something.

I don't know that much about it, but I think it works like bit-torrent, where the more people who are watching a channel the better the download speed. The Comedy Central channel is a little choppy now, but it's very new, so it should get better when more people find it, and currently it's free. I'm not sure what will happen once it's "officially launched" later this year, all I know is IT WORKS.

Most of the current channels are from China and the far east, but they DO have one channel of HBO! It's still growing too, the number of channels has more than doubled since I first found it a few months ago.

Check it out, here are the links to download the TVU Player and more info about the company:

4. None, I have SpySweeper, AdSubtract and Norton Internet Security...
...loaded on my computer and so far nothing bad has triggered any of those alarms. Hopefully it won't get polluted in the future, like some of the P2P programs did.

I think it needs to set a cookie to work right though. I had to turn off my NIS Firewall (and re-enable the MSWindows Firewall) for a few minutes for it to work. I did turn off AdSubtract too, but I don't know if I needed to, but it usually helps.

5. It still has a few bugs, I think. Try shutting TVU down and then...

...re-starting it. It often takes a little tweaking to get it started.

Plus, you do need some sort of broadband connection, I think. It has to cache about 1-3Mb too, I think.

Most of the channels take a minute or to to clear up on my computer.

On Edit: You might need to fiddle with your Firewall settings a little too, see my response above in the post about Spyware.

...timezone feed, so that makes that Colbert the 8:00pm final re-play of last night's show. You should get tonight's show in about 2 hours (2:30am EDT) and The Daily Show at 2:00am EDT.
