Bush: Gov't. works on disaster response

By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -
President Bush, ahead of next week's anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, says the government is making changes to improve response to national disasters and address the deep-seated poverty the floodwaters exposed.

"Last year I made a simple pledge: The federal government would learn the lessons of Katrina, we would do what it takes, and we would stay as long as it takes, to help our brothers and sisters build a new Gulf Coast where every citizen feels part of the great promise of America," Bush said Saturday in his weekly radio address.
............

Bush noted the human toll of the storm: More than a thousand deaths. Countless families who lost their homes and livelihoods. Tens of thousands of men, women and children forced to flee the region.

"One year after the storms, the Gulf Coast continues down the long road to recovery," Bush said. "In Mississippi and Louisiana, we can see many encouraging signs of recovery and renewal, and many reminders that hard work still lies ahead."

4. I feel your rage...
I'm sitting here seething---reading the PR soundbytes he's spewing out.

How friggin dumb does he think we are?

He's lying and feigning compassion---only to deflect potential damage from the one-year anniversary of Katrina.

That slimeball thug has some nerve. It took him a week to get victims bottled water and food. Then, when he
knew FEMA was failing he covered it all up for his own self preservation, "You're doing a heckuva job, Brownie!"
Junior knew people were dying. Instead of saving lives, he covered up. His marketing ploys equal death.

Now, a year later---the lack of clean-up and assistance is deplorable. Inadequate levies have not been fixed.
This alone, leaves the same victimized population vulnerable to a repeat performance of Katrina.

Yet, he says he cares so much.

Where in the HELL are the Democrats on this? Why do they allow this cretin to lie to the nation like this--
without anyone calling him on the carpet????

Democrats should be in NOLA---calling the pResident's actions and words INDEFENSIBLE.

6. Question is, what IS "the great promise of America"?
He should not be allowed to talk about this, his failures, the deaths his failures have caused, the suffering his failures have caused.
