O M G! AP Calls bush's Social Gaffes his "Informality"!
This has to be straight from the WH to the AP....

:puke:

Informality a reflection of Bush's style

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060822/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_etiquette

<snip>

WASHINGTON - Stepping outside the boundaries of strict political and diplomatic protocol gets no more attention than when the president of the United States does it. And President Bush has been doing a lot of it recently.

He called Canada's prime minister by his first name, massaged German Chancellor Angela Merkel's shoulders and played tour guide to Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi at Graceland, the Memphis home of Elvis Presley.

His biggest gaffe was that caught-on-tape moment at the G-8 Summit last month with British Prime Minister Tony Blair — the one that featured Bush cursing and talking with his mouth full before a microphone that was supposed to be off. That set off tut-tuts around the globe.

While four-letter expletives or a shoulder massage of a co-worker of the opposite sex could raise eyebrows in many office settings, Bush for the most part gets a pass from etiquette experts.

"Part of it is he comes from Texas, and they don't stand on a lot of formality in that state," said Letitia Baldrige, who was President Kennedy's social secretary. "I think you get the Eastern kind of aristocrats, like the old days, they're always going to be more formal, they're always going to have a jacket on."

HE IS NOT FROM TEXAS!!!!!! :argh:

1. Press needs someone to explain boundary issues v 'informality'
bush has no working knowledge of boundaries, social, legal, or international. He needs counseling and corporate media needs to attend a lot of CODA meetings.

2. It's a style he's sold
It's not honest and I can't beleive people fall for it so regularly - but apparently they do. Kind of sad.

Disclaimer: The preceding question is not directed to anyone actually from Texas.

"I'm not actually a president from Texas...but I play one on TV"

7. He was not brought up as a Texan
Just look at his father. Why does no one else in his family have a Texas accent? He doesn't even ride a horse.

He was educated at New England schools and spent a lot of time at Kennebunkport.

11. Check out the photo of Bush and Harper and look at the Caption!
Edited on Tue Aug-22-06 09:31 AM by KoKo01
In the caption under photo..AP does a line break after the word "joint" making it read like Bush and Harper sharing a joint (AP Photographer and caption writer seem to be making a joke about the puff piece article)

AP Photo: Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper, left,
shakes hands with President Bush after a joint

12. not only is he not from TEXAS ... he is from a family of putrid well to do
of course, they hailed from the times of the railroads so while they may have lined their pockets, they certainly may not have polished their darn manners.

13. that is a ruse, a tiddy little misapplied word onto a tyrant-mind...
incapable of being formal when it needs to be...much like an ivy born, wannabe podunk Nero Claudius perhaps; crass, willfully ignorant, unable to assume 'formality' his handlers must now declare him to the world...informal

14. Informality?
Try showing up five seconds late to a meeting in a suit that costs less than $2,000 and a tie with Daffy Duck on it. You'll have plenty of time to be informal at home after the shitty little punk has you fired for "not respecting the President."

What a pile of shit.

15. ...and this is the same guy who insists on coats and ties
for the male WH staff. And tells fart jokes. And says "Fuck Saddam, we're takin' him out..." And picks his nose (does he wipe his finger under the Oval Office desk?). And insists on the formality of being addressed as "Mr. President" by all.

The disconnect has got to be taking its toll.

Good.

22. I saw a clip of him on TV the other day
where he was wearing jeans in a room in the W.H. with a conference table. I've also seen him sitting at his desk in the revered Oval Office with his feet up on the desk.

sure if any other 'world leader' pulled those stunts, he/she would be taken out of office and put away in some nice mental institution.
