Plane disasters that I recall ( are green teeth safe teeth?)
There were many hijackings in the seventies - DB Cooper, etc. The "incident at Entebbbe" . Most were self-serving plots or ransom plans. Diffused with better screening.

9/11. Totally different. "Who could imagine . . ." Some imagined what happened as a natural outgrowth of what had happened before. Screenwriters and novelists did. Our government didn't.

Valuejet in the everglades - wasn't that a cargo problem? Oxygen cannisters that should never have been shipped in the first place?

Wasn't Locherbie thought to be a bomb in the cargo? (I might be wrong)

The TWA in Long Island sound was some weird electrical static problem that my to my understanding is still uncorrected because a "risk assessment" says it isn't "coat effective".

We are going nuts over 2 failed plots that did NOT happen: Bojinka and the latest London scare, but we are doing nothing to protect against incidents that DID happen: Valuejet,Locherbie and TWA.

You take my toothpaste while you still load unexamined cargo all day long. You (the government) are crazy. You are not making me safer. You are CHOOSING to not make me safer. You think that me handing my toothpaste tube over makes me think you are doing something and that I am safer. I do not feel safer without my toothpaste. I recognize it for the charade it is. I feel MORE unsafe without my toothpaste because you are exposing to me what a charade this is. No one else is safer because I have green teeth.

Check the frigging cargo!!!

1. Remember United Flight 629 in 1955?
A bomb in a checked suitcase.

I fear that or a hijacking more than "liquid bombs".

2. Locherbie was bomb in suitcase - from passenger who got off
the PAN-AM 103 flight without his bags ( talk about a red flag )...I believe he was checked all the way thru to US but got off in London and no-one checked why before they took off again. Now we have "regulations" that state you must be on same flight as your bags , unless of course the Airline decides (or omits) to take your bags - in which case its all okay...crazy.

All that said - your point is a great one.....Check the friggin cargo!!

3. Why fear this. Airplanes are made by man. Sometimes there are
mechanical errors... a lot of these airplanes are miraculously making it from destination to destination. Believe me, with all the "cheaping" of the parts and the labor, you are more likely to have an incident with the airplane itself. And then there is the fact that Bush messed with FAA pay. When my father-in-law retires, I will probably drive or take the train most places. Lets face it, you are more likely to experience a technical difficulty than a mass bomb explosion. Similarly, you are more likely to have a car accident due to operational failure, than to be an intentional victim of let's say a sniper or road rage.

Its time to get a grip on reality. Try living everyday as your last. You will make sure you say your "love you's" and make sure that the things that are really important are taken care of. I posted the other day...Are you afraid to die? Most people weren't. But some were. Let's take the time making sure we are ok with ourselves and our loved one's. Marketers are scared people in America will discover that. Coveting and wanting and being unsatisfied is what makes for sales. Look at the new Hummer commercial.. telling men you will be happy as a man if...

Anyway... time to wake up and enjoy, it may be your last.. you might just be hit by a bus.. screw the airplane

First time I went into the City since 9/11. My mom called me like 50 times. She thought it was another attack!

I still think that one was a shoe bomb and they just covered it up.
