Anyone been to Drinking Liberally??

I'm thinking of going to a Drinking Liberally event here tonight but I'm a little gunshy. Has anyone gone? If so, was it a positive experience? I'm sorta shy....sorta.

1. GO GO--they are a lot of fun (at least my local chapter is). There are

always interesting people to talk to, and lots of good information. Besides, it's always nice to be amoung one's peers (especially if one lives in fundieville, as I do) reminds one that one is not alone in the cold, cruel repuke world!!

2. Yes.

It's more of a social gathering. We've even combined with them for our local DU meetups. Alcohol is the great disinhibitor. You should go.

3. Yeah, they're fun.

I met some of my best friends at DL!

4. They are usually held at public watering holes.

If you're shy, just show up, order a drink, and sit away from the crowd.

Observe and share the vibe.

After a short time wander up and listen in on conversations.

Join in and talk if you wish.

There's your start.

5. Drinking with liberals. That's GOT to be fun. At least it was the couple

of times I did it with DUers in Boston.

Never laughed so hard before or after that.

I invited my husband but he doesn't want to so I'm gonna give it a shot solo. Hopefully a drink or two will help with my nervousness.

I've been to two different Drinking Liberally groups. Everyone is welcomed and even the ones who are a bit shy are made to feel part of the group. They are good fun and it is so nice to be surrounded by like minded people.

I love drinking and then acting like I know what I'm talking about... ;) Unfortunately most of my friends are sort of apolitical, so I'm the only one ranting.
