Kerry ramps it up! - terrorism , al qaeda stronger
and Iraq has made things worse.

"Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee, seized on news of the disrupted plot as a ``stark reminder" that Osama bin Laden remains at large and said it shows that Al Qaeda has ``grown in strength" since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

``Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda have succeeded in isolating the United States," Kerry, a Democrat, said during a conference call organized on behalf of Patrick Murphy, a Democratic candidate in a Pennsylvania House race. ``Afghanistan and Pakistan are where the fight against Al Qaeda is, not in Iraq."

1. Democrats need to state all the failures of shrub and company.
We need to stand united in what we know is the truth. This administration has done nothing to curb terror.

5. Good point but
Democrats must seize the moment and deal with the real economic cost and inconvenience meted out to citizens at airports as a direct consequence of Bushco's failure to secure airports. I can tell you that women voters in particular and Duty Free Shop owners are seething with the costs being incured as a result of this latest hysterical approach to security.

8. Shouldn't the Dems seize on the reality of how close this plot came?
It was not the Brits or the U.S. that disrupted this plot. It was the Pakistanis. If they had not caught the guys in Pakistan and informed the British government, this would have succeeded. So Billion of dollars later and after fighting a loosing war in Iraq, we have taken our eye off the ball, failed to find OBL and failed to defeat "terrorism". These guys are making us less safe. They are incompetant.

6. They need to dig out the tape of Bush saying that Bin Laden isn't
important anymore and play it a million times on TV and radio.

"I don’t know where he is. Nor — you know, I just don’t spend that much time on him really, to be honest with you. I....I truly am not that concerned about him."

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2004_10/004915.php

The truth is, that Bush has spent far more time on vacation and fund raising, than he has on bringing Bin Laden to justice for the attack on 9/11!

C.I.A. Closes Unit Focused on Capture of bin Laden.

WASHINGTON, July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.

The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

The decision is a milestone for the agency, which formed the unit before Osama bin Laden became a household name and bolstered its ranks after the Sept. 11 attacks, when President Bush pledged to bring Mr. bin Laden to justice "dead or alive."

The realignment reflects a view that Al Qaeda is no longer as hierarchical as it once was, intelligence officials said, and a growing concern about Qaeda-inspired groups that have begun carrying out attacks independent of Mr. bin Laden and his top deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri. More...

BUSH WANTS OSAMA DEAD OR ALIVE... "I want justice. And there's an old poster out West, I recall, that says, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive.'"

9. I think the problem is the press.
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 09:56 AM by mucifer
Dems often speak out. But, they usually don't make the news. cheney can pull bullcrap out of his ass and the press won't challenge him they just write it down or record it and send it to us.

Kerry can scream from the rooftops. But, he may only get covered by the Boston press.
