Known technique since 1994?
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 03:00 PM by Warren Stupidity
"In 1994, operatives with al-Qaida blew up a contact lens solution bottle filled with nitroglycerin tucked under the seat of a Japanese airliner bound from the Philippines to Tokyo's Narita International Airport."

I don't understand why, if this technique has been known for twelve years, restrictions were not in place a long time ago. Can anyone explain this? Is anyone asking the administration why they have done nothing to protect us from this threat until now?

1. The answer is clear:
This Republican mis-administration want more terra in order to always "gain" from, not less. Never mind how many thousands must die. It's BushCo's only real plan since the 2000 get go. Everything else ("they say") is absolute bogus & lies.

4. I think the answer is more likely that the cost to the airline
industry was considered too high.

8. Well that is an interesting data point.
I'd prefer that the 300M went to universal health care and R&D on alternative renewable low emission energy technology, but then again I am some sort of wild-eyed left wing anarchist.

12. but baby bottles and prescription bottles are OK???
as if a terrorist is too stupid to do the same thing with those that was planned to do with the sports drink bottle? -- so say nothing of all the ways someone can get liquids on a plane by putting them in zippy bags and strapping them on the body, sewing them into garments, whatever.

And then we have the fact not a single report says terrorist were plotting to board flights originating in the US. (So why was every damn airport in the country affected?)

And then we have the fact a terrorist could blow up the terminal easily by just walking in with a bomb and blowing it up before he even gets to security (those long lines will get just as many people or more as in flight will).

You can't make us safer by chasing down the explosives and keeping everyone all stirred up -- you have to chase down THE TERRORISTS.

16. Simple, effective solutions have no political momentum.....
They can't be used to fill people full of misguided patriotic pride in our soldiers marching off to save us from monstrous bad guys, whilst we quiver at home and vote for those who promise to kick the bad guy's collective ass.

War is useless in protecting people from terrorism (see link). But it plays well on Fox News.
