Lieberman's site is accusing Lamont of hacking again.

Have a look.

UPDATE ON THE ATTACK ON THE LIEBERMAN CAMPAIGN WEBSITE

STATEMENT FROM SEAN SMITH: "For the past 24 hours the Friends for Joe Lieberman's website and email has been totally disrupted and disabled, we believe that this is the result of a coordinated attack by our political opponents. The campaign has notified the US Attorney and the Connecticut Chief State's Attorney and the campaign will be filing a formal complaint reflecting our concerns. The campaign has also notified the State Attorney General Dick Blumenthal for his review."

"We call on Ned Lamont to make an unqualified statement denouncing this kind of dirty campaign trick and to demand whoever is responsible to cease and desist immediately. Any attempt to suppress voter participation and undermine the voting process on Election Day is deplorable and has no place in our democracy."

1. Wow, they can still access their servers!!
Site is running super-speedy now.

Since it's pretty obvious they have access to their servers, they could put anything they want on that site. Instead, they choose to continue a smear on Ned Lamont, the winner of the election.

Sad, isn't it?

3. Sounds like the exact same message they had up yesterday.
I think it's a rerun. Lieberman must have total idiots running his website/web server. It even mentions election day, which was yesterday. They must not have a clue.

7. The FBI is in on it now. Keep it up Joe. You'd better be right
or YOU and YOURS will be the ones in trouble for false accusations.

First of all, I don't think Lamont's campaign would be dumb enough to do something like that. By the way, it seems to me that they think it was a Lamnt supporter, not necessarily his campaign itself.

Doesn't making a false allegation mean you have to know it was a false allegation? Let's say, for example, that the theory some have put out that this was a case of them not paying their bill on time is correct but they notified the FBI and made accusations that it was the Ned Lamont campaign who did this. Obviously, that would and should lead to trouble for the Lieberman campaign.

However, what if they actually believe it was either Lamont's campaign or someone who supports him and it turns out to be some technical glitch or something?

IOW, doesn't intent come into this?

20. That might be hard to prove, indeed
I'm just repeating what I read on another thread.

But although it might be hard to prove intent, such accusations on the eve of a primary election are at the least suspicious. Esp. when we know that they had access to their server, or they wouldn't have been able to post notes on it, and also that it looks like a plain case of overextended bandwidth. Some have also said that early on there was a notice on their site saying that they hadn't paid the bills. Accusing the opposition when you know that you've exceeded your bandwidth would seem disingenuous.

21. Especially Because
There's 70-some other sites that use that particular web server. I'll have to ask my Information Security prof this, but I don't think that you can do a DDOS on one particular user of a server, it has to be the whole server.

A $12M war chest, and Lieberman's re-election campaign buys space on a $15-a-month webserver??? Jeez! They can't even afford to buy their own web server? :eyes:

8. The FBI
has stated that, if this is a phoney complaint (and I think it is), those that made it will be investigated and, if need be, charged. Wonder how THAT would go down for Lie-berman's fans in CT?!

10. Being charged with a crime ...
That's a pre-requisite for being a Republican politician these days, isn't it? I guess it's part of Joe's 'hazing' to prove he's worthy of membership.

It took Jaws Lieberman 18 years to get that thing of his perfected.

Fine embouchures don't just grow on trees ya know.

Pucker Power like that, could prolly suckstart an aircraft carrier task force, or counteract a class 5 typhoon and make it spin backward.

I wonder if he has a blue dress too?

He'll be unemployed like half the country is. One thing you have to say about Joe, he's damned sure not a man without a country.

I wonder why Rummy didn't let Joe help the Office of Special Planing and PNAC cook up the action in Iraq. Joe's an old war horse just like most of the Pubbies.

Afraid he'd kiss and tell I reckon?

maybe whoever's left in the campaign is trying to figure out whether to get a new host...or, well, who knows? I'm sure it's a zoo up there. ;-)

32. Bullshit Bullshit Hack Bullshit
I've had enough! After four frigging days they could put up any kind of page they want. Lieberman's people changed servers. We know this. It takes a max of 48 hours for a site to propigate to another DNS server. Max.

Instead they CHOOSE to post that lie of a message. Worse, my guess is they intend to keep that page online and adopt a new domain name for short ride Joe.

Well I hope they keep it up - just like it is. Then Lamont has a better chance to sue that traitor for defamation and/or libel. I hope the FBI investigates and discovers that Team Loserman as inept and that they blamed their ineptitude on Ned.

33. Kind of says a lot about the rise of internet politics....
Regardless of whether the allegations are true, you have one campaign actively using the internet (probably employing the best internet people) and the other using it as an afterthought (unable to hire an internet specialist capable of stopping hacking).
