Tweety is COMPLETELY full of shit
I just heard him on MSNBC talking about how incumbent Senators never get defeated in a primary. "You'd have to go back to Fullbright of Arkansas or Frank Church."

1) Frank Church was not unseated in a primary

2) Here's a list of Senators that have been unseated in a primary race since J.W. Fullbright in 1974. I count 10...

2002: Bob Smith (R-NH) – lost to John Sununu (GOP retained seat in November)
1996: Sheila Frahm (R-KS)* - lost to Sam Brownback (GOP retained seat)
1992: Alan Dixon (D-IL) – lost to Carol Moseley Braun (Dems retained seat)
1980: Donald Stewart (D-AL) – lost to Jim Folsom Jr. (GOP picked up seat); Mike Gravel (D-AK) – lost to Clark Gruening (GOP picked up seat); Dick Stone (D-FL) – lost to Bill Gunter (GOP picked up seat); Jacob Javits (R-NY) – lost to Al D'Amato (GOP retained seat)
1978: Maryon Allen (D-AL)* - lost to Donald Stewart (Dems retained seat); Paul Hatfield (D-MT)* lost to Max Baucus (Dems retained seat); Clifford Case (R-NJ) – lost to Jeffrey Bell (Dems picked up seat)

Come on Tweety, you were working in politics when most of these races happened. I wasn't even born when most of them happened and somehow I know more about this than you do.

2. Go easy on Tweety.
1. It's very sunny out and some psychotropic meds have weird reactions to sunlight.

2. It's hard to refill his automated Haldol drip in public.

4. Yeah but it isn't the norm
While correcting Matthews is always good fun, at the same time we don't want to take away from the significance of this situation. Lamont beating Lieberman is a big deal and is pretty significant.

5. True, but it really bothers me
Because it enforces the idea that primaries only happen when angry left-wing bloggers decide that they don't like someone. Primaries have been happening long before the internet even existed.

6. QFT!
Doesn't it kind of blow your mind when you realize that people who have national television shows can just make shit up and spew it as fact? It's not like he can't afford some researchers. Sadly, it's all too common an occurence, especially with Tweety.
