Wonkette digs up LIEberman campaign's hosting tab from its FEC reports
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 05:54 PM by kpete
KOS

Ahh, Wonkette digs up the Liberman campaign's hosting tab from its FEC reports.

So it's clearly apparent that the Lieberman campaign has no clue how much they really spent on hosting. They handed over $1,500 over the last quarter to "2 Dog Media" (no hit on Google) to do "web hosting and web changes". So this guy, 2 Dog Media, went out and bought the cheapest web hosting he could find, $15/month, to best maximize his profits.

And it was all the bloggers and Ned Lamont's fault.

WONKETTE
Lieberman Campaign's Website Woes Own Damn Fault

Why the hell is Joe Lieberman’s campaign site hosted by these people (site down — probably not because of dirty deeds, by the way) under the cheapest plan available? And why do Lieberman’s FEC filings say he’s paying $1500 to a different company for web hosting? No, we seriously want to know. These aren’t rhetorical questions.

We have to assume that Lieberman paid the guys named above to find hosting, and “2 Dog Media” went with the cheapest option available, using the rest of their paycheck to buy Ecstasy or whatever

1. .
Well, I don't know. Maybe he always pays his bills 100 months in advance.
That way, he will most likely never have the problem of unpaid bills. Right?

I thought Wonkette should probably shut down.

7. Separate e-mail hosting company?

Image taken from p. 156 of the pre-primay filing a pdf doc (http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?F26020580822)

The paid another internet company for their e-mail hosting and e-mails on July 4, 2006. I thought they couldn't do e-mails because their server was down?

8. Paid to Dan Geary
The clown who's in charge of Lieberman's web presence. So maybe, like 2 Dog Media, he took his cut and "subcontracted" it to the same cut-rate webhost that got blown out by the trafficking.

11. THIS JUST IN: TOTALLY NON-CRAPPY WEB HOSTING COMPANY WANTS TO SUE US:
THIS JUST IN: (Wonkette)TOTALLY NON-CRAPPY WEB HOSTING COMPANY WANTS TO SUE US:

Hello, this is Kerry Szeps, owner of 2Dog Media, LLC. We have been notified of the false statements on the front page of your website regarding our business. These statements are false and damaging. 2Dog Media, LLC has not hosted the joe2006.com website for over 3 months. When the site was hosted with us, it was on a dedicated server with unlimited bandwidth and daily server back-ups. The Lieberman Campaign was paying much more than $7 a month for this service. The campaign manager, Sean Smith, came on board and decided he would rather work with a friend of his that he had worked with in the past. Since then, our company has not been in charge of the hosting services.

Our lawyers have been notified and are requesting a number to contact the owners of Wonkette.com. Please send us this information. What this means: Sean Smith/Lieberman ditched a (hypothetically) competent web hosting service to go with a cheap, easily crashed one owned by a buddy. Cost-cutting or cronyism, it’s still idiotic. Thankfully, they’ve switched to a reputable and family-friendly alternative.

13. How could they sue Wonkette?
Wonkette used information that was provided to the FCC by Lieberman himself. Sounds like if Mr.Szeps has an issue it is with Lieberman.
