Here is another company to stay away from
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 08:15 AM by DancingBear
Dacor is a manufacturer of kitchen appliances - we had one of their wall ovens in a previous home, and are looking for appliances again for the home we are renovating.

After getting a Dacor catalogue, I was struck by the "God pledge" on the inside cover, and decided to do a litle research on the "Christian" owner.

You guessed it - heavy contributor to both the RNC and to Bush/Cheney '04.

I believe I'll pass on their product, and will write to said owner and let him know why.

Thanks to DU'er "Fuzz" for his thread on "OutsidePride" for the inspiration. :)

1. Thanks to both of you!
I will be careful not to use any of their products.

Framing starts today btw...........

I picked up a copy of our local Christian Yellow Pages and have been checking them all out. I have no problem if people are Christian or whatever but when I do business with them I would just as soon not be welcomed with a religious sentiment or sent away with one. My preference. Now I will also check them for donations *D'oh* I had not thought about doing that locally.

13. My experience has been when I deal with someone and they
feel they have to share their religious beliefs with me, I always got screwed. you notice I used the past tense and that is because now I turn and walk away uttering something like whats that got to do with it. Thanks for the info though.
Good luck on your new house. I am an ole worn out concrete finisher myself, made many a new homeowner happy too in my career.

9. Around here it's easy
They put those fish symbols on their yellow pages ads, their car signs and even their doors sometimes.

I have no problem with Christianity in general....it's this recent crop of fools running their religion that I have a problem with. When the so-called "mainstream" Christians stop supporting fascism and pushing for theocracy, that's when I'll start turning a blind eye to their religious choice. Until then, any business with a fish symbol on it is immediately rejected. I don't even see it as a symbol of Christianity anymore, to me it's a symbol of fascism and GOP ideology.

5. and their products suck...
we have both oven and stove top (contemporary look cheaper than gaggenau). Oven started on fire first time we attempted oven cleaning and stove top has clicking issues when starting gas stovetop.

6. Thanks for the heads up, and it's important to let these folks know
why we are boycotting their products/services.

to the Buy Blue website. http://www.buyblue.org/ They don't care whether a business is "Christian-run" or not but the donations to the RNC make it a red company.

I love Buy Blue!! :loveya:
