Election protesters rally in Mexico City (pics)
Thousands of supporters of leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador protested outside Mexico's top electoral court on Monday night, demanding a vote-by-vote recount of the July 2 presidential election.

(snip)
Carrying banners with slogans, such as "Vote by vote, poll by poll!" about five thousand protesters blocked traffic on a boulevard outside the court.

"This is just the start of much stronger actions," said Jose Antonio Valles, a 52-year-old engineer at the protest.

2. Love those Mexicans.
If insurrection is the only answer, I wouldn't call their bluff. They're ready.

3. If the governmnt had any decency it would treat these people respectfully.

I would imagine it's not that easy for any of them to have put their every day lives aside, and jobs, and made their way from the far ends of their country to wait for the government to honor their votes.

On edit:

In fact, if the government takes a Rove turn, they will start scheming to find a way to get their employers to fire them for being away from work.

4. Employers already do that in the US without Rove
Edited on Mon Aug-07-06 11:33 PM by Selatius
This is one reason that keeps voter participation down. You don't vote if you're a poor person who has to work 60+ hours a week juggling two jobs and raising a baby with the bills due because employers don't pay living wages like they more often did 50 years ago.

If you're pissed off enough, sure, you'll walk for freedom, but most Americans are isolated and feel alone. They don't know there's a protest because the corporate news outlets never report them, and when they do, they imply that they're fringe nutjobs.

5. We can learn from our democratic brothers and sisters to the South.
That is what we must do when the GOP tries to steal the next election in the USA.
